Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Be Doing:

 

As part of our dynamic Rail + Transit engineering team, you'll gain valuable, hands-on experience in a collaborative and supportive environment. Your role will include:

  • Exploring Engineering Plans – Learn how to interpret and work with rail and transit design drawings and project details.

  • Analyzing Rail Infrastructure – Assist in reviewing track alignment, station layouts, and right-of-way elements.

  • Digging into the Numbers – Perform quantity take-offs to support project cost estimates and material needs.

  • Building Your Technical Skills – Gain experience in track geometry, structural components, drainage considerations, and utility coordination.

  • Collaborating with Experts – Work closely with engineers, drafters, and support staff on innovative transit infrastructure projects.

  • Producing Real Deliverables – Contribute to design documents, reports, and cost estimates under the guidance of senior engineers.

  • Applying Industry Standards – Learn to use railway codes, design guidelines, and transit-specific regulations in your engineering work.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Current undergraduate student (or higher) in an accredited Civil Engineering program.

  • Demonstrated interest in Rail + Transit Engineering.

  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and engineering software.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or OpenRail is a big plus!

  • Ability to be based on-site at our office location is important.

Additional Information

TYLin is committed to pay equity. As part of that commitment, we have provided the base compensation range of $25.00 - $27.00 hourly for this position and local market.
