This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with solid Kubernetes experience who wants to deepen expertise in platform engineering while working on enterprise-scale, mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with deployment and configuration of Kubernetes clusters (upstream, RKE2) in connected and air-gapped environments.
  • Support operations of the Rancher Gov stack for multi-cluster management.
  • Contribute to GitOps pipelines using Fleet and ArgoCD to enable automation and consistency.
  • Help package and distribute workloads using OCI bundles and Helm charts.
  • Implement security best practices in collaboration with senior engineers (e.g., network segmentation, access control).
  • Participate in cluster upgrades, patching, and monitoring for stability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot platform issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers when needed.
  • Document processes, playbooks, and configuration details for repeatability.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, or platform engineering.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes (preferably upstream or RKE2).
  • Working knowledge of Rancher, Helm, and GitOps tools (Fleet, ArgoCD, or similar).
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker), Linux systems, and basic CI/CD practices.
  • Good understanding of networking, security basics, and infrastructure operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
  • Eagerness to learn advanced Kubernetes practices and grow into senior-level responsibilities.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to edge or air-gapped environments in regulated industries.
  • Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK).
  • Familiarity with service meshes such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Contributions to open-source Kubernetes or DevOps projects.
