What You'll Do

As part of the Fortnite Team, you’ll be working on an ambitious new project that significantly expands the features, services, and ecosystem available to developers building experiences in Fortnite. You’ll lead a cross-functional team designing, implementing, and launching services and online features for Fortnite Creative and the Creator ecosystem. You’ll partner with programming and product leaders across Epic to improve the capabilities and quality of our online service offerings. Most importantly, you’ll work with a creative, energetic, and fun team to continue making Fortnite one of the world's most popular and engaging gaming experiences!

In this role, you will

  • Be a leader and a vision holder for the design, implementation, and launch of services and online features for Fortnite and Fortnite Creative
  • Drive the development of features with external dependencies by identifying requirements and partnering with other teams appropriately
  • Provide oversight of features with online components to ensure requirements and dependencies for online operations are accurately planned and accounted for
  • Collaborate with production to manage the planning and execution of multiple projects, taking into consideration priorities, tasks, and available resources
  • Provide leadership and growth to reports through feedback, coaching, and stretch assignments
  • Positively motivate and lead a cross-functional team of developers
  • Maintain a culture of high standards and accountability

What we're looking for

  • 8+ Years of software programming industry experience developing online systems
  • 4+ years of experience as a programming leader
  • Experience with game architectures and integration of online services for multiplayer game features
  • Able to architect online services for scalability, reusability, and live operations
  • Experience developing and supporting services on one or more cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Experience with online SDKs/requirements for one or more game consoles (Xbox/PlayStation/Switch)
  • Real-world planning for load testing, monitoring, security, toxicity, and other considerations for operating live services

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (excluding CA, NY, & WA).
