We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our E-commerce and Partnerships Team! In this role, you will run a team of frontend and backend developers and work with product management to deliver requirements to your team. This is a hybrid position with 2 days/week in the office, and the employee MUST be located within the San Francisco Bay Area.

What You’ll Do
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Guide and inspire a team of developers who design and build software systems
- Mentor team members to advance their performance and career, and do yearly reviews
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical requirements.
- Participate in roadmap planning and contribute to strategic decision-making.
- Communicate technical concepts and trade-offs effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Hiring & Talent Development
- Interview and support hiring and attracting top engineering talent.
- Conduct performance evaluations and yearly reviews, setting goals for individual development
- Project Delivery & Execution
- Help your team to design and build features and functionality delivered on time and within scope
- Optimize development workflows and processes to enhance team efficiency
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum of 8 years of experience delivering complex software systems and solving technical obstacles
- 2+ years of people management experience
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
- Strong backend experience using Python or similar object-oriented language
- Experience in mentoring and coaching engineers to enhance their skills and career growth
- Strong attentive communication skills to understand team and business needs.
- Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and proactively finding solutions.
- Strong sense of responsibility for team outcomes and technical success
- Ability to handle pressure and setbacks while keeping the team focused and motivated.
- Open to feedback and continuous improvement, both personally and within the team.

- The base salary for this role ranges from $180,000 - $220,000 in local currency, depending upon experience
