THE POSITION
As a Safety Learning Team, within Safety & Operational Excellence (OE), we embed learnings across Keyera. We do this through a standardized and structured approach, by facilitating and improving delivery of knowledge in order to improve organizational effectiveness.
The Learning Advisor, South Region, reporting to the Learning Team Lead, is accountable for supporting the facilities within your region (South region includes: Rimbey/Gilby, Strachan, Nordegg, Brazeau River, DVN (Cynthia, Zeta Creek, Field), and Keylink) to meet their competency requirements and provide effective learning. This is accomplished through conducting learning needs assessments, scheduling safety training activities, upkeeping training materials, overseeing site schedules, and assessing the impact of training initiatives. This role will also oversee the site validation process and serve as the primary point of contact for facility personnel in matters pertaining to safety learning and development. Through effective collaboration and communication, the South Learning Advisor plays a key role in maintaining a centralized training and learning approach across Keyera.
The successful candidate can work regularly out of one of Keyera's Alberta office locations (Calgary, LI Regional Office, Grand Prairie, Rimbey and Drayton Valley) with the requirement to travel to facility sites where needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Learning Advisor, South Region primary responsibilities include:
- Facility Gap Assessment and Closure: Facilitate gap assessments to identify training needs, work with facility stakeholders to develop gap closure plans focused on a standardized approach, and execute gap closure plans.
- Facility Safety Training Coordination: Organize and oversee safety training sessions as necessary, updating and managing the Competency Management and Development System (CMDS) with training outcomes.
- Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Monitor materials to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, promptly updating documentation in response to regulatory changes.
- Facility Activity Calendar Management: Establish and sustain a comprehensive schedule of facility activities to facilitate efficient planning and resource allocation.
- Global CMDS Content Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain CMDS content to align with global standards.
- Competency Profile and Training Plan Development: Create and sustain competency profiles and training plan templates tailored to departmental needs.
- Validation Process Facilitation: Support the validation process at the facility to ensure the facility validators are able to meet the facility needs. This may include training new validators, improving the overall process and efficiency and stepping in to help with validations as requested.
- CMDS Validator Training Facilitation: When necessary, conduct training sessions for CMDS validators.
- Interdepartmental Training Coordination: Collaborate with various departments to align assigned training with facility-specific requirements.
- CMDS Reporting and Progress Monitoring: Generate CMDS reports to verify accuracy and track training progress, ensuring data integrity.
- Key Liaison for Learning and Training: Serve as the primary point of contact for facility personnel regarding learning and training inquiries.
- Senior Leadership Learning Meetings: Arrange and facilitate learning meetings with leaders to ensure uniformity and alignment of training practices across the organization.
- SharePoint Content Maintenance: Collaborate with designated facility representatives to uphold SharePoint documents pertaining to facility-specific materials such as procedures and training plans.
- Business Goal Support: Support facilities to achieve business goals, utilizing centralized processes in a fit-for-purpose and value driven manner while considering site requirements, and listening to, and communicating with Facility Leaders
QUALIFICATIONS
The Learning Advisor, South Region will ideally possess the following knowledge, skills and experience:
- Initiative and ability to work and set priorities in a multitask environment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to drive results through multi-disciplinary collaboration
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organization and analytical skills.
- A passion for learning and training.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence.
- Ability to provide a valid driver’s license and a 5-year standard driver abstract (clean driver’s abstract).
- Ability to complete and clear drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability and willingness to travel within the region you support.
- Previous experience with adult learning is considered an asset.
- Previous CMDS (or other competency/LMS) experience an asset.
- Post secondary training or certification; trades or powering engineering certification preferred.
- Operations and/or maintenance technical experience in both gas plants and liquids infrastructure is considered an asset.
