Job Description

Ignite your potential. Impact what matters.

Hi, we’re HUB – a network of doers with diverse stories and a shared goal to support our clients and communities. To do it, we believe in supporting each other, because great work happens when people come together, and that means building a team where anyone can spark an idea, and where everyone can make a difference. Where pushing ourselves forward helps us give more to others.

When you partner with us, you’re at the center of a vast network of risk, insurance, employee benefits, retirement and wealth management specialists that bring clarity to a changing world with tailored solutions and unrelenting advocacy – so you’re ready for tomorrow.

The Opportunity!

The Life Sciences Business Development Associate represents a rare opportunity for science graduates to leverage their technical education in a dynamic, client-facing career—without being confined to the laboratory. This is your pathway to becoming a recognized life sciences insurance specialist within three years.

This accelerated career development program is specifically designed to transform science graduates into industry experts by combining your technical foundation with commercial expertise, relationship management skills, and deep sector knowledge. The program features clearly defined progression milestones that will advance you from foundational account support through increasingly strategic client engagement, culminating in a senior Business Development Specialist or Sales role within HUB's leading Life Sciences practice.

In this role, you will partner with pioneering organizations across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, research institutions, and healthcare innovation—translating complex scientific operations into comprehensive risk management strategies and tailored insurance solutions. Your scientific background will be your competitive advantage as you build trusted advisor relationships with clients who demand both technical credibility and business acumen.

You'll collaborate with Service teams, Sales professionals, insurers, and cross-functional partners to deliver specialized solutions where scientific precision, regulatory compliance, and technical expertise are paramount.

How We’ll Develop You:

  • Structured 3-Year Career Trajectory: Follow a clearly defined progression path with milestone-based advancement, increasing client ownership, and expanding commercial responsibility at each stage.
  • Comprehensive Professional Development: Benefit from intensive onboarding, specialized life sciences and insurance training programs, personalized executive coaching, and peer mentoring designed specifically for science professionals transitioning into commercial roles.
  • Industry Immersion: Build recognized expertise by working directly alongside seasoned Life Sciences insurance specialists and industry veterans who understand both scientific operations and risk management.
  • Deep Technical Knowledge Building: Develop sophisticated understanding of specialized insurance products, life sciences markets, clinical trial protocols, laboratory operations, and the complex regulatory frameworks governing scientific organizations.
  • Active Industry Engagement: Represent HUB at key Life Sciences and insurance industry conferences, symposiums, and networking events to build your professional presence and market knowledge.
  • Clear Advancement Pathway: Progress systematically from Business Development Associate to Business Development Specialist, and ultimately to a full-time Sales role, based on demonstrated performance, technical mastery, and client relationship excellence

What You’ll Do:

Pursue New Business Opportunities

  • Build your professional network through active participation at industry conferences and life sciences events.
  • Create strategic partnerships with research institutions.
  • Educate potential clients on strategies to mitigate risk
  • Cultivate and advance qualified business leads through consultative engagement.
  • Develop and sell insurance solutions tailored to client needs.

Client Service & Account Support

  • Deliver an exceptional client experience.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between clients and insurers by responding to inquiries, gathering required information, and resolving issues with professionalism and urgency.
  • Review policies and endorsements for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with client coverage needs.
  • Ensure all documentation is processed in accordance with HUB service standards, workflows, and compliance requirements.

Documentation & Workflow Management

  • Execute new business submissions, renewals, policy endorsements, and cancellations with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate records within HUB’s agency management systems.
  • Support audit readiness, compliance, and best-in-class documentation practices.

Financial & Reconciliation Support

  • Collaborate with the Accounting team to manage account reconciliation.
  • Assist with invoicing, premium tracking, and resolving billing discrepancies.

Licensing & Compliance

  • Obtain and maintain all required insurance licenses and continuing education in accordance with regulatory and HUB standards.

Why This Role Stands Out

This is not simply an entry-level position—it's a strategic career accelerator purpose-built for science graduates seeking to escape the limitations of traditional laboratory careers while maximizing the value of their scientific education.

Your Science Degree as a Strategic Asset: Unlike typical insurance roles, your background in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related scientific disciplines isn't just welcomed—it's essential. You'll apply your technical knowledge to understand client operations, assess specialized risks, and communicate credibly with scientific leadership.

The Best of Both Worlds: This role offers what few careers can—the opportunity to leverage your hard-earned scientific expertise while developing sophisticated business skills, building meaningful client relationships, and pursuing unlimited earning potential outside the constrained career paths of academic research or laboratory work.

Rapid Expert Development: Our structured program is specifically designed to transform motivated science graduates into recognized life sciences insurance specialists within 36 months—a timeline that positions you as a subject matter expert while your peers are still in postdoctoral positions or mid-level lab roles.

Ideal Candidate Profile: We're seeking science graduates who combine technical credibility with exceptional interpersonal capabilities, build trust-based relationships with C-suite executives and research directors, and thrive in collaborative, client-facing environments. If you're analytically rigorous, commercially curious, and energized by the intersection of scientific innovation and strategic business development, this role will transform your career trajectory.
