Accounting General Department
Vantage Accounting General is a shared services team responsible for accurately and efficiently recording financial transactions while building positive financial relationships with customers and vendors across North America.
The team coordinates the entry, review, and approval of day-to-day transaction processing in accordance with financial policies and department SLA’s. The team members proactively engage in solving problems through close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in the development and implementation of continuous process improvements by maximizing the use of our technology resources, and continuing education to improve accounting operational efficiency through assessing, standardizing, and streamlining day-to-day processes. The team behaves with integrity, synergy, flexibility, respect, and initiative.
Position Overview
Vantage’s footprint in North America is expanding and to support it, its accounting team is growing to better support its portfolio of data centers. As such, Vantage is looking for an agile, resourceful and detail-oriented Manager, Accounting, to assist with the day-to-day accounting and cash activities, the preparation of financial statements and reports, internal control processes, and to drive the financial close process for Vantage’s portfolio of entities.
The Manager, Finance and Accounting will also assist with financial audits, participate in system improvement initiatives and coach and develop the accounting team. The Manager, Accounting must be able to work independently and with the highest level of accountability and trust. The ideal candidate will also be well-organized, used to work in a fast-paced and complex environment, and demonstrate solid management and leadership skills.
This position will be based on-site at our office in Montreal, QC in alignment with our flexible work policy (3 days on site required, 2 days flexible).
Essential Job Functions

Lead and coach a team of accountants responsible for day-to-day data center accounting, including general ledger integrity and accuracy, and bank and G/L account reconciliations

Nurture a work culture with a positive attitude that promotes trust, accountability and respect among teammates, stimulating teamwork to accomplish desired goals and objectives

Responsible for the execution of month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing activities, including financial reporting and audits

Support the formulation, implementation and execution of control systems within the organization
-
Lead and collaborate in process and financial systems enhancements
Duties
-
Drive the month, quarter and year-end processes (including the review of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, etc)
-
Review and/or issue various financial reports, including internal, external and statutory financial statements (for tax, debt and other various purposes)

Implement and perform internal financial controls, including sign-off on journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analyses
-
Oversee the cash recording and reconciliation processes

Ensure compliance with laws, internal policies and US GAAP
-
Prepare internal management reports and variance analysis and participate in the annual budgeting process

Assist in coordination with external auditors and internal auditors

Manage assigned areas of local tax and legal compliance and reporting, where relevant

Evaluate financial reporting systems and recommend, lead proposed improvement changes in processes

Advise senior management on any critical trends in relation to the financial performance of the company

Reviews and approves accounting documents per the company’s workflows
-
Participate in non-routine projects such as real estate and business acquisitions, debt financing transactions, etc., as needed

Promote a strong culture of cooperation within the team; and

Train, oversee, coach, develop, provide assistance to and evaluate the performance of team members.

Job Requirements

Bachelors' degree in Accounting and CPA designation;

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within a large, complex organization’s Finance team;

Experience in multi-currency and complex, multi-tiered entity environments;

Data center, real estate, or construction industry experience, preferred but not required;
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with many simultaneous priorities from time to time;
-
Demonstrated communication, leadership and organizational skills;
-
Facility to “roll up one’s sleeves” and collaborate with process participants in solving issues;
-
Skilled at using various ERP and with technology in general;
-
Knowledge of Yardi Voyager, preferred but not required;
-
Bilingual (French, English), an asset but not required
-
Proficient in the Windows and Office 365 environment.
