Role Overview
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to help bring Second Life to mobile devices.
This is a technical lead role, reporting to Second Life's Viewer & Server Director of Engineering. In this highly collaborative position, you will write software, architect new systems, mentor staff and manage a small team responsible for bringing the mobile Second Life viewer to life.
This is a hybrid role, with some expectation of in-office presence in our Seattle office or San Francisco HQ.

This mobile viewer is a key part of our future looking company strategy to continuously attract and engage players..You will have the opportunity to directly put your fingerprints on a flagship product and the ability to help build a new, unique mobile app using a platform used by millions of users
What We’ll Create Together
You will:
- Make significant contributions to ongoing development and enhancement of the SL Mobile application and its supporting platform
- Provide leadership and mentorship of a small, agile team
- Build strong relationships between internal and external teams, working closely with our mobile development partner, Sine Wave
- Perform code reviews, implementation of automated test frameworks and tools
- Ensure proper testing and QA processes are followed to promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Provide project planning and ownership of mobile products - assist in planning development tasks and take ownership of specific projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery
- Create smooth team processes for shipping software
What You’ll Bring to the Team
At Linden, we celebrate all the dimensions of diversity, including diversity of experience. We recognize that candidates applying for this role will be most successful if they bring the following with them:
- 8+ years experience as software engineer including mobile development; 3+ years in a technical leadership role
- Modern web, game, C# and Unity development experience
- Familiarity with game networking, UDP/TCP
- A track record of leading teams and shipping successful projects
- Earnest interest in learning new technologies
- History of working with cloud based computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP
- Great communication, awareness, self motivation and collaboration attributes
- Familiarity defining the strategic direction for AI initiatives and ensuring alignment with broader business goals
- Curiosity for experimenting with and implementing novel AI capabilities to solve complex problems and create new user experiences

Pay Transparency Notice
Linden Lab’s Total Rewards philosophy ensures a fair, equitable, and unbiased approach to compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate. Our compensation philosophy is supported by a location-based strategy, and the annual salary range for this position will vary depending on geographic location, as outlined below.
Geo Zone 1: $165,000 - $223,000, with a midpoint of $194,000
We enter new hires between the minimum and the midpoint of the applicable geo-defined range. Our talent partners will discuss specifics, including which geo-zone applies to your location, during the hiring process. Actual base pay within this range is dependent on many factors, including experience, competencies, skills, internal equity, and calibration of market data. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible to receive awards under the equity incentive plan (EIP) + generous benefits program, including comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Salary Range
$165,000—$223,000 USD
