Job Description SummaryReporting to the Canadian Country Leader, the Manager, Indigenous and Community Engagement will play a critical leadership role, responsible for the development and execution of all Indigenous Engagement strategies and initiatives to support project objectives and Internal Infrastructure initiatives in Markham, ON. The role will be required to establish and maintain relationships both internally with key stake partners as well as various impacted communities across Canada.Job Description#LI-Remote - This is a remote position
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of GVH’s Indigenous engagement strategy in support of project objectives throughout GVH Canada.
- Work in collaboration with internal and external partners to lead all Indigenous engagement initiatives and opportunities for GVH in Canada including, but not limited to training, development and education, community engagement, and business development.
- Document all Canadian community engagement activities and initiatives and prepare reports as required by project partners.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community groups, including Indigenous associations, and other organizations as required.
- Establish and maintain project schedule as required.
- Lead GVH’s Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) through (CCIB) Canadian Council for Indigenous Business certification process.
- Lead project engagement initiatives as it relates to GVH SMR projects.
- Work with project staff and internal partners to apply judgment, discretion, and initiative in managing sensitive issues involving Indigenous communities and their citizens, including Aboriginal and treaty rights.
- Support other Canadian indigenous engagement initiatives as required.
- Attend community events as required (some weekends required).
Basic Qualifications
- Post graduate degree in Indigenous Studies, business, Social Science or related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, Environment, or equivalent role.
- Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and collaborating with representatives and communities.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered an asset.
Eligibility Requirements
- A Valid G Driving license is required.
- Ability to have a flexibility working to support community events on weekends as required.
- This role requires access to U.S, export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. government.
- For Canada, this role requires working a hybrid model, two days a week onsite at the Markham Ontario office.
- For Canada, GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
