Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Development Manager to lead our engineering team, focusing on our Compliance Monitoring product. This role is pivotal in guiding the technical direction and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, particularly in Python, Apache Airflow, and database technologies like Snowflake or AWS RDS on Postgres, and will be adept at providing technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team.

Please note: while this is a remote position, we are looking for candidates in an Eastern or Central Timezone. 


What You'll Do

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor engineering team members through regular 1:1s, feedback, and career development planning, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous learning.
  • Technical Guidance: Review pull requests and provide technical guidance to engineers, ensuring best practices in coding and architecture are followed.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Remove obstacles and coordinate cross-team dependencies to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with product leadership on roadmap planning and technical strategy, aligning engineering efforts with business objectives.
  • Development Participation: Participate directly in development activities to maintain technical expertise and support the team.
  • Team Management: Manage hiring, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities to build a high-performing team.
  • Delivery and Quality Management: Drive team delivery and quality while managing capacity and workload across team members.
  • Process Improvement: Oversee sprint planning, execution, and process improvements to enhance team productivity and efficiency.

What We're Looking For

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. 7+ years in software development, with 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with Python, Apache Airflow, and database technologies such as Snowflake or AWS RDS on Postgres.
  • Technical Leadership: Proven ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship, with a strong track record of reviewing code and guiding engineering teams.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing software development projects, with a focus on agile methodologies and continuous improvement.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, capable of working well within a team and engaging with stakeholders across the organization.
