We are seeking a talented individual to join our Human Resource team at Marsh McLennan. This role can be based at any location in Canada near a Marsh McLennan office, and it is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As an HR Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting People Partners and HR Managers by coaching, advising, and empowering People Managers to enhance the overall quality of people management throughout the colleague lifecycle. Your contributions will have a direct and positive impact on the colleague experience at Marsh and Mercer Canada. In collaboration with HR Managers and People Partners, you will demonstrate flexibility in resource allocation to effectively meet varying demands. Additionally, you will be instrumental in the deployment and adoption of innovative processes and initiatives tailored for People Managers. Your insights will be invaluable to the Centers of Excellence (CoE), guiding the development and prioritization of initiatives, programs, and projects designed to benefit both colleagues and People Managers alike.

We will count on you to:

  • You will be responsible for the deployment of enterprise-wide HR programs and initiatives, alongside the HR team
  • Offer guidance and support to HR Managers and People Partners as they aid People Managers across the full range of activities in the HR portfolio, including managing colleague performance, developing skills and competencies, and facilitating learning opportunities; this may involve supporting the rollout of training or mentoring programs and ensuring compliance
  • Assist with communications, change management and enhancing organizational effectiveness
  • Providing support in areas of compensation, benefits and total rewards including during the year end process when HR Managers will coach People Managers on discussions about performance and reward discussions
  • Engaging in wellbeing initiatives, including the local delivery of wellness related programs
  • Supporting matters related to leaves, absences, and related topics including coordinating with workforce administration team for return-to-work accommodations and logistics
  • Contributing to enhancing our Inclusion awareness and considerations
  • Addressing employee relations matters including investigations, performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, etc., and engage with the Employee Relations CoE for advice and support
  • Assisting with career development efforts including succession planning and internal mobility
  • Coordinate the rollout and delivery of HR programs and contribute to process improvements
  • During organizational restructuring activities, coordinate necessary activity to support HR Managers, People Managers, and affected colleagues including planning and execution of changes affecting roles or terms of employment
  • Coordinate with the Global Mobility CoE to oversee delivery of all mobility activity and liaise with colleague and mobility vendor to ensure a successful relocation.

What you need to have: 

  • Relevant experience in HR
  • Experienced in supporting managers with employee related matters
  • Ability to operate without supervision and seek support from appropriate colleagues/experts judge when guidance is required for more complex situations
  • Basic understanding of local laws, company policies and HR processes
  • Bilingual in English & French
