About CoLab

At CoLab, we help mechanical engineering teams bring life-changing products to market years sooner.

CoLab is the AI platform for driving stronger engineering decisions. Every design review in CoLab builds a knowledge repository of design feedback, decisions, and lessons learned - which AI agents draw from to flag issues on future designs before they compound. The more your team works in CoLab, the smarter it gets and the faster you arrive at the ideal design. Companies like Ford, Komatsu, and Johnson Controls use CoLab to catch issues earlier, eliminate rework cycles, and bring products to market faster.

Founded in St. John’s, Newfoundland, CoLab has grown quickly from our first customer in 2019 to a rapidly scaling company. We’ve recently been recognized on Deloitte’s Fast 50™ and Fast 500™, and named a Canadian company to watch by The Globe and Mail and Financial Post.

About the Role
We’re hiring a Multimedia Producer to bring CoLab's story to life through product animations and motion-driven video content.

You’ll bring video projects to life once the core concept is defined. That means collaborating on the storyboard (which may originate from product marketing, field marketing, demand gen, or content), reviewing and challenging the creative direction, and then owning the execution from finalized storyboard through to the finished product.

Your work will fall into 3 core categories:

  1. Product Marketing Animations: You’ll design and animate videos that show how CoLab works, with a focus on visual clarity and compelling storytelling. These are multi-step engineering workflows that don’t come across in static images or screen recordings. You’ll help bring them to life through UI simulation, motion design, and animations that focus the viewer’s attention exactly where it needs to be.
  2. Demand Generation & Social Video: These videos will have faster turnaround times and higher volume. You might be editing clips of the CEO giving a talk or a customer providing a testimonial—shorter video edits that highlight real voices and social proof. These can be 30–60 seconds in length and published multiple times per month.
  3. Bringing the CoLab Brand to Life: You’ll craft distinctive, highly polished brand centric videos that strengthen CoLab’s visual identity and tell our story with clarity and impact.

What Success Looks Like
By the end of your first quarter, success means:

  • Publishing one thoughtful, animated product marketing video per month
  • Shipping at least three short-form, live-action or social-ready video clips
  • Building a deep knowledge of CoLab, how the platform works, the problems it solves, and the audiences it serves.

Longer term, the goal is to ramp up to:

  • Producing two product marketing animations per month, working toward one per week as processes mature
  • Sustaining a consistent cadence of short-form video content across campaigns and platforms

This mix of polished brand videos, high-velocity social clips, and in-depth product explainers will give CoLab a consistent video presence, tailored to each stage of the buyer journey.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • You’re creatively driven, but deeply practical. You love the craft of motion design and want your work to make a real impact.
  • You have  strong knowledge of brand design and are able to work creatively within strict brand guidelines and established design systems, so that every video feels like a “CoLab video” from the moment it starts.
  • You have high standards and treat feedback as a way to sharpen your work—not a personal critique. You’ll revise something 12 times if that’s what it takes to make it excellent.
  • You know how to show—not just tell—how a technical product works. You bring a technical curiosity that helps you translate complex concepts into clean, sharp visuals.
  • You’re equal parts animator, motion designer, and editor. You know how to stage product moments, simulate UI interactions, and add visual polish that elevates the viewer experience.
  • You understand audio and know how to balance music, voiceover, and sound design to set the tone and elevate the content.
  • You’re motivated by visibility. You want to see your work out in the world, shared by teams and seen by future customers.

What you’ll do:

  • Take finalized storyboards and scripts and turn them into polished, engaging video assets
  • Work with  CMO, product marketing, and design to review, challenge, and refine storyboards
  • Design and animate product marketing videos that enhance clarity and showcase CoLab’s capabilities
  • Create high-volume, short-form demand-gen and social videos that drive visibility and engagement
  • Animate or enhance product workflows using motion design techniques to direct viewer focus and improve comprehension
  • Curate audio, voiceover, and visual assets to align with CoLab’s brand and tone
  • Manage projects from storyboard handoff through final delivery on a fast, iterative schedule with minimal oversight

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a motion design, animation, or multimedia production role, ideally in a B2B tech or SaaS environment
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, primarily After Effects and Premiere Pro, with working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Familiarity with tools like Figma, Blender and screen-recording software
  • A compelling motion design and video editing portfolio that demonstrates expertise in creating product explainers, UI animations, and highly polished brand-focused content.
  • Ability to translate technical workflows into digestible, visually compelling animated formats
  • Bonus: experience with 3D animation, Lottie, or engineering-related software

Extra Details

  • This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive compensation package that includes stock options.
  • Extended health and benefits package, unlimited paid vacation, and RRSP matching.
  • Remote-friendly: you can work from anywhere in North America, with access to our HQ in St. John’s, NL.
