THE POSITION
Keyera is looking for an Operations Engineer to join our gathering and processing engineering organization (Wapiti). You would be working at our Wapiti Gas Plant which is located near Grande Prairie, Alberta. The Wapiti plant includes acid gas injection facilities; the most reliable and environmentally responsible method to deal with sour gas, virtually eliminating carbon emissions as compared to other acid gas handling processes. Reporting to the Team Lead, Operations Engineering, you would play a critical role in supporting our facility operations and maintenance teams, while monitoring and optimizing facility performance. The position involves a combination of site-based and office-based work (approximately 50/50 split) and candidates can be based out of the Grande Prairie or Calgary area with frequent trips to site.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide day-to-day engineering support to operations and maintenance (O&M) teams

Monitor facility performance and provide technical recommendations to improve performance

Troubleshoot operating issues and incidents

Lead small plant modifications through the management of change (MOC) process and prepare engineering work packages (EWPs) for process, mechanical, instrumentation and electrical work scopes

Provide technical input to projects and O&M activities. Provide support to preventative maintenance and reliability strategies and initiatives

Research, develop and implement improvements for process optimization.

Plan and lead equipment and process performance tests

Lead and participate in process hazard assessments (PHAs) and what-if analyses for MOCs

Provide technical support to larger projects by assisting in data collection, design reviews, risk assessments/PHAs and stakeholders coordination

Manage small field-based projects including development of framing documents, design coordination, cost estimating, execution planning & coordination and cost control

Select suppliers for facility work and tagged equipment

Provide technical information and support to Business Development and Marketing

Continuous improvement of technical skills through training

A technical mentor to others

Focus on safety, reliability, and cost reduction
QUALIFICATIONS

University Degree in Engineering from an accredited university
-
Preference for those registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta, or eligible to apply for registration, although consideration will be given for an Engineer-In-Training with relevant experience

Maintaining APEGA membership status in good standing is a requirement
-
3-5 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas and industry

Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects / priorities to meet deliverables

Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a company vehicle

Must be able to provide a 5-year standard driver abstract with zero demerit points (clean driver’s abstract)

Process modeling experience with HYSYS or equivalent software would be an asset
