The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of frontline operations in Flesherton, Ontario. This role provides leadership and support to drivers, technicians, and yard staff while ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable service for our customers.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and branch team, the Operations Supervisor plays a key role in daily execution, safety enforcement, customer service, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role with approximately 75% field-based work and 25% office-based responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Daily Operations
- Directly supervise drivers, technicians, and yard staff.
- Coordinate daily scheduling, dispatch activities, and work assignments.
- Conduct daily check-ins, tailgate meetings, and field observations.
- Provide on-the-job coaching and support to frontline employees.
- Support onboarding and training of new employees.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture at all times.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Verify completion of pre-trip/post-trip inspections, delivery documentation, and service records.
- Respond immediately to unsafe conditions or operational concerns.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer concerns related to deliveries, service, or property damage.
- Conduct customer site visits to assess and right-size propane storage solutions.
- Build strong customer relationships and identify opportunities for business growth.
Operational Support
- Monitor completion of deliveries and service work to ensure operational efficiency.
- Support response to operational disruptions including weather events, breakdowns, and changing customer demands.
- Work closely with dispatch and branch leadership to maintain service levels during peak periods.
- Previous experience in transportation, logistics, propane, HVAC, field service, or related operational environments.
- Experience supervising or leading frontline employees in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in field and office environments.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Valid DZ license or willingness to obtain one.
- Willingness to work weekends during peak delivery season.
- Experience in propane, fuel delivery, or energy operations is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities with a hands-on management style.
- Ability to prioritize work and make sound operational decisions under pressure.
- Experience working directly with customers in service-oriented industries.
- Combination of office and field work, with approximately 75% of time spent in the field.
- Frequent interaction with drivers, technicians, equipment, and customer locations.
- Must be able to respond to operational demands during peak winter and delivery seasons.
- Weekend work may be required during periods of high operational demand.
