Votre impact :

• Définir, développer et exécuter des stratégies complètes de plans et procédures de test pour les composants optiques, en alignement avec les exigences produits et les normes de l’industrie.

• Diriger, encadrer et développer une équipe d’ingénieurs en test, en favorisant une culture d’ingénierie collaborative et hautement performante.

• Superviser la conception, le développement et le débogage de montages de test, de cadres d’automatisation et de systèmes de mesure électro‑optiques couvrant un vaste portefeuille de composants.

• Collaborer étroitement avec les équipes de conception matérielle afin d’intégrer la testabilité dès les premières étapes du cycle de développement des produits.

• Travailler en partenariat avec l’ingénierie produit et procédés pour réaliser des analyses de causes racines et mettre en œuvre des actions correctives efficaces lors de défaillances de composants.

• Promouvoir l’amélioration continue des méthodologies de test, des processus, des outils et de l’infrastructure de laboratoire.

• Agir à titre d’expert·e technique en tests de composants optiques et fournir des conseils techniques aux parties prenantes interfonctionnelles.

Exigences essentielles :

• Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en génie électrique, en optique ou dans une discipline connexe.

• Plus de 10 ans d’expérience en tests matériels automatisés, incluant des composants optiques ou électro‑optiques.

• Solide expertise pratique des équipements de test optiques et électriques ainsi que des techniques de mesure.

• Expérience démontrée dans le développement d’automatisation de tests à l’aide de langages de programmation orientés objet tels que Python ou MATLAB.

• Capacité éprouvée à résoudre des problèmes techniques complexes à l’aide d’analyses structurées et d’approches basées sur les données.

• Expérience en leadership de projets techniques avec une responsabilité claire quant à la portée, à l’échéancier et aux livrables.

• Excellentes aptitudes en collaboration et en communication au sein d’équipes d’ingénierie multidisciplinaires.

• Expérience dans l’influence du choix d’instruments de test à partir de données de performance et de résultats d’essais.

• Background en fabrication de composants optiques, en qualification ou en tests de production à haut volume.

• Connaissance de l’analyse statistique, des essais de fiabilité ou des méthodologies de conception axée sur les tests (design for test).

• Exposition à des cadres de gestion de projet Agile ou structurés dans un environnement de développement matériel.

• Expérience en mentorat ou en gestion formelle d’ingénieurs en environnement de test ou de laboratoire.

How you will make an impact:

  • Drive the strategy, development, and execution of comprehensive test plans and procedures for optical components, aligned to product requirements and industry standards

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of test engineers, fostering a collaborative and high‑performing engineering culture

  • Oversee the design, development, and debugging of test fixtures, automation frameworks, and electro‑optical measurement systems across a broad component portfolio

  • Partner closely with hardware design teams to ensure testability is embedded early in the product development lifecycle

  • Collaborate with product and process engineering to perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions for component failures

  • Champion continuous improvement in test methodologies, processes, tools, and lab infrastructure

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in optical component testing, providing technical guidance to cross‑functional stakeholders

The must haves:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or a related discipline

  • 10+ years of experience in automated hardware testing, including optical or electro‑optical components

  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of optical and electrical test equipment and measurement techniques

  • Demonstrated experience developing test automation using object‑oriented programming languages such as Python or MATLAB

  • Proven ability to solve complex technical problems using structured analysis and data‑driven approaches

  • Experience leading technical projects with clear ownership of scope, schedule, and deliverables

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary engineering teams

Nice to haves:

  • Experience influencing instrumentation selection based on performance data and test results

  • Background in optical component manufacturing, qualification, or high‑volume production test

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, reliability testing, or design for test methodologies

  • Exposure to Agile or structured project management frameworks in a hardware development environment

  • Experience mentoring or formally managing engineers in a test or lab environment

Pay Range:

  • The annual pay range for this position is $102, 900 - $164, 300

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
