The Policy Officer works with the Director of Governance to help maintain and update the Engineering Society’s governing documents, including the Constitution, By-Law, and Policy Manual. The role primarily involves reviewing historical Engineering Society Council minutes and incorporating approved policy and governance changes into the official documents to ensure they remain accurate and up to date.

This position is an excellent opportunity to learn about EngSoc’s governing procedures, Council operations, and the structure of the Engineering Society as a whole. The Policy Officer will meet regularly with the Director of Governance to review updates and discuss ongoing governance matters. 

This is a remote position. The work term is from June until the end of August. 

The Policy Officer position is entitled to a $500 honorarium upon successful completion of the role.  

Responsibilities Include  

- Assess old EngSoc council agendas, appendices, and minutes 

- Editing EngSoc's By-Law and Policy documents 

- Collaborating and sharing work progress with the Director of Governance and Vice President of Student Affairs  

- Review, modify, and draft policy to make the engineering society more inclusive, transparent, equitable and efficient student organization
