The Opportunity
As part of the STS Pipeline Integrity – Integrity Field Services Department, the Operations Support Team provides technical services to support TC Energy's Canada Gas business unit. The team's focus is on safe and effective pipeline operations, over-pressure protection and incident management while maintaining safe and reliable pipeline systems.
Reporting to the Manager of Operations Support, you will be supporting the Process Engineering team to manage pressure control and over pressure protection (OPP) system, OPP annual verification program, and ensure safe operations and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is a technical engineer with a background in gas pipeline systems, control systems, facilities and pipeline operations. If you are a self-starter with excellent organization, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, this role is for you.
This position will provide opportunities to work with stakeholders across Safety & Technical Services (STS) and Canada Gas. It is an excellent opportunity for exposure to customer gas plant operations, external customer relationship development and support, commercial operations, and process safety.
What You'll Do
- Provide engineering review of operating and design documents & drawings to assess the need for process control solutions and respond to changing operation conditions
- Work with Commercial, Operations and other stakeholders to review, implement, and support changes to process control systems (E3 MOCs, PI Master Plan Engineering Justifications)
- Communicate with customers to ensure compliance with TC Energy's Overpressure Protection (OPP) annual verification program and address any external PC/OPP questions and concerns
- Help with development and implementation of workflows for customer PC/OPP forms as well as database of customer PC/OPP data for internal use
- Review customer technical submissions for new and existing meter stations connecting to the TC Energy's pipeline networks in Canada
- Review technical documents and update OPP program documents as per review cycle
- Provide engineering assessment of pipeline & facility assets to determine suitable operating limits
- Engage with stakeholder teams (Operations Planning, Gas Control, Reliability and Regional Operations) to identify causes and mitigation measures in case of pressure excursions
- Provide process engineering operational review to GPMC and Growth projects and support integration of new assets into pipeline systems (Datasheets, Operating Philosophies, Engineering Drawings, PTOS, etc.)
- Act as the point of contact and provide comments for regulatory compliance information requests related to overpressure protection/process engineering

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in chemical, process, or mechanical engineering
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with APEGA
- Minimum of four (4) years of engineering or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design and operation of natural gas pipeline systems and asset integrity
- Familiarity with process control systems, CSA Z662, ASME B31.3 and other relevant codes and regulations
- Established ability to problem-solve by applying engineering principles and developing effective solutions
- Effective communication (written and oral) and presentation skills
- Highly capable time management, prioritization and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with excellent work ethic, attention to details, and a track record of driving tasks to completion on schedule
- Demonstrated decision-making skills, with the ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment
