The Role:
Are you an upcoming or recent graduate eager to start your career in operations within the energy industry? Keyera is looking for a New Graduate Process Operator to join our team starting in May 2025. This role provides hands-on experience in plant operations, safety, and process optimization, helping to build the next generation of energy professionals.
You will be based at the Alberta EnviroFuels (AEF), a steam facility located in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Process Operator, you will play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of our gas-fired power boilers and various related utility equipment. On your 12-hour shifts, you’ll work with a range of complex systems, including:
- Three gas-fired power boilers (58,326 kW capacity)
- Utility equipment such as steam-driven and electric-driven air compressors, demineralization systems, chemical systems, feedwater pumps, wastewater pumps, cooling towers, and more!

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular rounds in all utility areas.
- Test feedwater and condensates.
- Perform operational readings.
- Report safety concerns or operational issues.
- Ensure smooth and safe operations as part of the team.
What we are looking for: We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive individual who is passionate and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will have:
- 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate (Candidates who have passed ALL 3rd Class ABSA exams and require Steam Time will also be considered). Must have graduated in the past 24 months.
- Technical diploma from NAIT/SAIT (or relevant diploma/degree from an accredited institution) is an asset.
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and the Environment.
- Self-starter who can work independently with a minimum of supervision.
- Strong team player with proven communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Highly organized, reliable individual with attention to detail.
- At the sole discretion of management, other combinations of directly relevant experience and educational credentials will be considered.
- Valid H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG, and First Aid Certificates would be an asset.
- Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
- Physically able to perform all components of the position.
- This role requires the candidate to wear respiratory protective equipment. As per Alberta OHS 250(2), the candidate must ensure an adequate seal where the facepiece of the equipment seals to the skin of the face.
- A valid driver’s license.
