Who we areAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow revenue, and accelerate new opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. We have a staggering amount of work ahead, which means you’ll have a rare opportunity to help make the global economy accessible to everyone—while doing the most impactful work of your career.

About the Product Design team

The Product Design team is made up of several groups that define, create, and deliver all user-facing aspects of Stripe’s brand and product. Product Designers are strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management within their product area. In close collaboration with product teams, they shape user experiences, then translate them into high-quality designs that can be tested, shipped, and refined. Designers are responsible for building elegant, functional products that users love—and want to tell others about.

About the team

Our Growth team is on a mission to acquire, convert and grow millions of merchants globally across Stripe’s full suite of financial products. We are a cross functional team of engineers, scientists, marketers, designers and product managers that deliver the insights, algorithms, internal systems and tools, and user-facing experiences that fuel Stripe’s growth. In short we make it easy for people to act on their interest in Stripe.

As part of the Growth Design team, you will design products that help bring new users into Stripe and take their first steps with our tools with the strongest possible start. This includes working on products that bridge our marketing and dashboard experiences together, as well as key growth-related customer experiences (e.g., onboarding, user dashboards, product recommendations and more).

What you’ll do

In this role, you’ll work closely with marketing, brand, and our dashboard teams to help new users understand Stripe’s capabilities and discover and use Stripe for the first time. You will partner with engineers, data scientists, product managers, marketers, and lawyers to shape product experiences that help people start and scale their businesses on Stripe in their earliest stages of exploring our platform.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to work across the entire Growth team, including customer acquisition, conversion, and retention experiences
  • Design industry-leading experiences that reduce the friction for new users onboarding to Stripe
  • Evolve Stripe’s communication platform to deliver timely, relevant information across preferred user channels
  • Design intuitive communication experiences, whether by improving existing UI or creating entirely new patterns
  • Craft high-quality UIs that set the bar for design excellence at Stripe
  • Collaborate with designers, PMs, and engineers to define both long-term strategy and near-term tactics
  • Partner with engineering and other teams to launch polished, user-facing experiences
  • Regularly share your work through design reviews and with team leadership
  • Collaborate with UX Research to inform and validate design decisions
  • Partner with Content Design to build robust content systems

  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong design fundamentals and polished UI craft
  • Experience designing onboarding journeys, product demos, or other growth-related domains.

  • Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and multiple stakeholder inputs
  • Skilled at communicating design decisions and rationale across disciplines
  • Experience working horizontally across product areas and influencing team or company-level direction
Preferred qualifications
  • Ability to reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use, especially when explaining technical experiences to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with A/B testing, or designing in analytical/data-driven contexts
  • Comfortable presenting work to stakeholders regularly
  • Experience designing for a B2B and/or fintech product
  • Experience with UI systems and scalable design patterns
