About the Role
We are seeking a Mobile Product Designer motivated by the opportunity to define the mobile experience at a design-driven company. In this role, you will be the primary advocate for our mobile users, tackling complex design challenges to deliver exceptional iOS and Android experiences.
You will lead the mobile design strategy and take full ownership of the end-to-end design process. Working closely with our design leader, Product, and Engineering teams, you will ensure our app leverages native capabilities to provide the simplest, most intuitive solutions possible. You aren't just adapting desktop features; you are designing mobile-first journeys that feel seamless and high-performance.
In this role, you will work in a highly collaborative environment while enjoying the autonomy to own the mobile roadmap and the ability to impact our entire product ecosystem through the lens of the mobile experience.
This role is based in Toronto; we expect you to come to the office (downtown Toronto) at least once or twice a week for meetings and working sessions, but you can work remotely on other days.
Responsibilities
- Designing and evolving the mobile app experience at Baselane
- Maintaining the Design System along with other designers and evolving it for mobile use-cases
- Working with PMs to understand/define problem statements
- Creating elegant design solutions that account for different user scenarios as well as business & tech considerations
- Validating designs with users, and getting alignment with internal stakeholders
- Working with the dev team to help translate the design to code accurately
- Helping evolve the long-term vision for the mobile app and overall product by collaborating with the rest of the team
Must Have
- 4+ years of native mobile design experience, of which at least 2+ years at a technology startup
- Demonstrated experience with end-to-end product design, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, interaction design, and usability testing
- Experience owning product design from start to finish, working with developers and PMs
- Extraordinary visual design skills, with a solid understanding of mobile UX/UI principles and platform-specific considerations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to persuade stakeholders
- Mastery of Figma
