WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT TO USSimCorp is a global provider of integrated investment management solutions, part of Deutsche Börse Group, trusted by more than half of the world's top 100 financial companies. Five years ago, SimCorp's ESG solution did not exist. Today, many of these financial institutions use it for regulatory reporting such as SFDR-PAI and the EU Taxonomy. The newest addition is an AI agent that turns plain-language questions into working ESG analytics. Next on the roadmap: ESG attribution — explaining why a portfolio's ESG results changed between periods, or why they differ from a benchmark.
Our Product Owner is moving to a new role within SimCorp, and we are looking for the person to take over the backlog, the sprints, and the daily decisions that turn regulation into working software.
The timing matters. ESG is becoming part of a larger product area, Investment Foundations, which also covers business entities and a funded programme to eliminate free codes from our standard solutions. The backlogs will merge in the near term, and the role grows with them. You start with ESG.
You will work with an established engineering team (hiring is underway for 1–2 more) and closely with the Product Manager for Investment Foundations. The role can be based in Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Paris, London or Warsaw.
This is a very involved role with real ownership and direct client contact. Ideas get a fair hearing here, including unconventional ones; if yours holds up, you will get the backing to build it. You'd be joining a product with real traction and demanding users — the tightest feedback loop a Product Owner can ask for — and AI product work that is already in production, with room to push it further.
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR- Own and prioritize the backlog, sprint by sprint, balancing client value, platform quality and technical health
- Translate regulatory text into product increments and acceptance criteria — often while the text is still in consultation
- Set goals with the team and own the outcomes we have promised clients, not just the output
- Prototype before building: a mock-up, a rough demo, a client call. Being wrong on paper is cheap; being wrong in production is not.
- Act as a knowledgeable subject-matter resource in client and auditor meetings, and host the user group for our ESG community
- Work with data vendors and partners, including within Deutsche Börse Group, which SimCorp is part of
- Say no, often, and explain why — the backlog holds more good ideas than the team has quarters
- Use AI in your daily work: for research, for prototyping, and increasingly for building. Product management here is moving toward building, not just specifying — the title on this ad says Product Owner but treat it as a starting point.
We would rather say this now than in the interview. Compliance software leaves no room for "mostly right". The domain is dense and getting wider, and it takes months to get genuinely good — we will teach you, but you have to want it. You will depend on teams you do not control, so coordination, not authority, is the daily tool. And the rules sometimes change while you are building for them.
People who ask "why" one more time than expected, follow problems into other teams' domains, and stay on the call until the thing works do well here. How many years you have carried the Product Owner title matters less than whether you learn faster than the regulation changes.
You will be a good match if you have several of the following:
- Curiosity about AI and about how the investment industry works
- Experience with ESG or regulatory reporting, e.g. SFDR-PAI or the EU Taxonomy
- Knowledge of SimCorp's ESG solution or SimCorp Dimension (a plus)
- Experience with B2B or enterprise software, especially data-heavy products
- Experience owning the backlog and delivering with engineering teams
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Global hybrid work policy - We ask you to work 2 days a week from the office. If you choose you can work remotely the other days. Of course you are welcome at the office if that is your preference.
- Growth and innovation - Every 6th sprint is reserved for planning and innovation. So, with regular intervals you have a chance to explore and learn new skills or improve something that you believe will be beneficial to you, your team or the application.
- Self- Direction - High degree of self-organization. Each team and developer have a high degree of freedom to plan, organize and design their work.
- Inclusive and diverse company culture
- Pension and health benefits and bonus
- Work-life balance – We truly believe that an equilibrium between professional responsibilities makes us all the best version of our self's, both in private life and as a colleague in the workplace
- Empowerment – We believe that all voices are valuable and must be heard. You will involved in shaping our work processes
