Group Summary:

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support R&D projects in collaboration with internal teams, Cosma production divisions and external partners ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Manage required project documentation such as timelines, resources, budgets and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Conduct paper studies, research, benchmarking, and data analysis to develop innovative designs and concepts for automotive systems.
  • Coordinate testing, fabrication, and installation of equipment to ensure compliance with engineering designs and customer requirements.
  • Perform hands-on activities such as testing, and machine operation, including programming automation equipment and other machines like presses and laser cells.
  • Perform engineering analyses such as FMEA, SPC, GD&T to optimize designs and ensure manufacturability.
  • Prepare technical reports with results of equipment testing and engineering analyses.
  • Present project status, technical reports and project plans to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering or a related field; a college diploma in Automation Technology or a related field with relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of automation hardware and software in high-volume production environments.
  • Hands-on experience in PLC programming, ideally with one or more of the following: Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff.
  • Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting automation equipment.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in automation projects management.
  • An understanding of forming, joining, casting, and metallurgy (steel and aluminum alloys).
  • Experience with automotive standards and processes (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC).
  • Excellent organizational, presentation, and report-writing skills; ability to collaborate effectively in a team and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Robot programming, electrical design, and hands-on CAD experience are considered assets.
