The AQRM Project Manager is a non-technical project leader responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering cross-functional quality and risk initiatives across the firm. This role supports regulatory inspections (CPAB, provincial CPA bodies, CIRO, and RSM Global), Canada’s System of Quality Management (CSQM 1/ISQM 1/SQMS 1), manages  internal inspections, drives remediation and action-plan tracking, and manages reporting and stakeholder communication. The PM ensures timelines, quality standards, and handoffs are met, proactively escalates risks, and enables teams with templates, tools,  and disciplined execution cadences. 

What You’ll Do 
External Regulatory Inspections 

  • CPAB (firm and file inspections): Coordinate planning, schedules, access, and evidence requests; prepare and consolidate responses to RFIs; run stakeholder collaboration to obtain timely, complete documentation; manage communications. 
  • CPAB remediation & fee reporting: Track findings to closure; facilitate debriefs; convert lessons learned into actionable improvements; drive annual fee reporting through review, submission, and follow-ups. 
  • Provincial regulators (e.g., CPA Alberta): Build inspection schedules and client listings; standardize templates and kickoff materials; support in-person sessions; manage rapid-turn responses. 
  • CIRO s RSM Global inspections: Maintain question templates, distribute to teams, manage communications and follow-ups; coordinate Canada’s responses to global prerequisites. 

SOQM / CSQM 1 Program Management 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain SOQM artifacts and status; run daily checks, resource plans, project plans, and weekly reporting; testing and conclusions; schedule archiving snapshots; prepare leadership slides and deliverables. 
  • Facilitate planning sessions, monitor data trends, and prioritize tasks to keep the program on track. 
  • Internal Inspections & Coaching 
  • Prepare file selections and leadership materials; run weekly project plan check-ins; monitor action items; support inflight reviews/coaching surveys to stabilize engagements. 

Monitoring & Remediation  

  • Own firm-wide action-plan tracking (status, owners, due dates); ensure timely updates and closure; produce transparent reports for committees and leadership. 

Dashboards, Tools & Process Improvement 

  • Advance the audit quality dashboard (data gathering, automation decisions); maintain CLEAR process analyses and authorization list reviews; design standard templates and macros to streamline findings summaries and responses. 

Other Portfolio Responsibilities 

  • Manage PCAOB registration Form 2 submissions; support partner rotation logistics; coordinate AQRM projects and meetings; handle ORM rotations and general administrative items as assigned. 

What You’ll Bring Experience Knowledge 

  • Bachelors degree
  • 3+ years of project/program management in Audit Quality, Risk Management, or Assurance operations. 
  • Skills in data management, populating reports, mapping and advanced excel skills (Preferred) 
  • PMP or a Finance/Risk Management related degree (Preferred) 
  • Knowledge of accounting and public accounting environments (preferred)  
  • Demonstrated success coordinating multi-stakeholder efforts under tight timelines with disciplined prioritization. 

Skills 

  • Strong planning, scheduling, and risk management; excellent written/verbal communication with regulators, partners, and cross-functional teams. 
  • Data-driven mindset for dashboards and action-plan monitoring; ability to translate lessons learned into practical process changes. 

Attributes 

  • High ownership, follow-through, and accountability; calm under pressure with proactive escalation and early risk flagging. 
  • Collaborative and service-oriented; able to support teams while holding delivery disciplines (e.g., freeze windows before due dates). 

Working Conditions 

  • Virtual work model ; occasional travel for regulatory engagements (e.g., Calgary). 
  • Fast-paced environment with end-of-cycle stability practices (early risk flagging, transparent deferrals, final-week change freeze for critical items only). 

Success in 6–12 Months Looks Like 

  • Predictable delivery cadences with early risk communication and fewer last-minute changes. 
  • Standardized inspection templates and project status in place, improving response quality and speed.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $51 - $77 per hour

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
