Manage excavation project delivery including bidding/estimating, scheduling, crew coordination, safety compliance, stakeholder communication, progress monitoring, and documentation to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
For over 50 years, Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated, growing to become one of Edmonton’s largest and most respected road construction contractors. We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Excavation Services team.
This role is essential in managing the successful execution of excavation services on a variety of construction projects—ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing personnel and personnel performance, and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Complete bids and estimates for excavation and earthworks scopes, including developing detailed schedules and execution strategies for every project.
- Work with other department supervisors to coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operations of excavation crews in the execution of various construction projects.
- Manage personnel and assets based on project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to meet contractual commitments and cost performance targets.
- Includes working with other department supervisors to recruit and develop personnel across all excavation positions.
- Liaise and coordinate with clients, project managers, inspectors/consultants and any other project stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of work.
- Lead/attend project meetings and maintain clear communication across all stakeholders.
- Monitor work progress/production, identify potential risks, and implement corrective measures to ensure all project cost and performance targets are met.
- Promote a culture of safety, ensure that all personnel under your supervision are adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including reports, logs, and records.
- Consistently deliver projects that meet quality standards, timelines, and budget targets.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervising multiple construction crews, specifically in excavation projects.
- Completion of post-secondary program/degree in business or engineering (e.g. CET) and PMP designation is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and leadership skills—able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven problem-solving ability and capacity to perform under pressure.
- Proficiency with project/construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in estimating software and budget preparation.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
