About the role

As a QA Engineering Manager at Fortis, you’ll oversee our Automation Engineers and QA Analysts focused on developing advanced test solutions for our Central Engineering teams.  You’ll oversee a team of engineers developing our test frameworks and tooling for multiple engineering initiatives, while overseeing the quality delivery of both test services and technology for our game projects.  As part of QA leadership, you’ll help define our long-term direction and strategy of Test Automation including advancements in areas around Data Analysis and AI.  

What you’ll achieve

  • Team Management: Overseeing multiple initiatives you’ll oversee our team’s strategy of approach and overall success.  You’ll define the structure and staffing needed for success, while being responsible for the career development and delivery for everyone on the team.  
  • Resource Allocation: You’re ensuring we always have the right talents where we need them, while providing opportunities for your team’s growth.  You’re proactive in understanding staffing and other resource needs, including planned skill development to meet your team’s objectives.  
  • Stakeholder Communication: You’re constantly collaborating with QA and Development leaders ensuring your team is always focused on the highest values, driving solutions around maintaining stakeholder awareness around project status, opportunity, and challenges.  
  • Process Improvement: Leveraging processes, data, and feedback; You continually look for opportunities to increase the overall capabilities of the team. Challenges are tackled quickly but used to mature the team against future challenges.  
  • Team health: Culture is important to us, and you set the tone while ensuring a positive and productive work environment.  

What you’ll need to be successful

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an engineering team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a high performance team.
  • Experience developing using Agile methodologies.
  • Understanding of web and backend API testing automation.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Javascript/Typescript, C# or Python.
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud services
  • Understanding of CI/CD workflows and platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple teams, identifying project requirements, and ensuring successful delivery.
