The Queen’s Biomedical Innovation Team (QBiT) is an interdisciplinary design team that designs, prototypes, and tests innovative biomedical devices to address healthcare concerns both globally and within our local community.

Position Description: 

One Chief Technical Officer (CTO) will be hired. The role of the CTO is to lead and oversee the technical aspects of QBiT’s projects. The CTO will help Project Managers continually assess the feasibility of their projects and obtain the resources required to complete projects in a timely manner. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Keeping track of on-going tasks for the technical projects and sub-teams 
  • Assisting in the planning of technical skill building workshops for general members and Project Managers 
  • Maintaining a current inventory of QBiT’s supplies, and oversee the collection of ordered materials 
  • Helping Project Managers and general team members with any technical issues they may encounter, particularly those related to accessing facilities, tools, professionals, or equipment 
  • Communicating with professors, graduate students, and other technical mentors for project support 
  • Regularly attending executive meetings and providing updates 
  • Corresponding with other design teams to share spaces and tools, if required 
  • Overseeing the Project Managers for all projects 


Ideal qualities: 

  • Technical knowledge and experience in mechanical, computer, or electrical engineering 
  • Commitment to the technical teams and QBiT as a whole 
  • Strong leadership qualities, particularly with large and diverse teams 
  • Excellent teamwork and a commitment to collaboration 
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Interviews will take place during June 21st, June 26th, June 27th and June 28th .
