The Queens VEX U Robotics Team (QVEX) is an award-winning competitive robotics team under the Engineering Society and Alma Mater Society. With over 80 inter-disciplinary members from engineering, commerce, and science, QVEX is the largest and most successful collegiate robotics team in Canada. The team was founded in 2019 to revolutionize engagement in robotics at Queen's, while also developing a globally recognized competitive program.
Job Description

The Director of Business reports to the Administration Co-captain and is responsible for creating the sponsorship package, communicating with sponsors, and distributing packages to prospective companies. This candidate is also responsible for planning and organizing outreach events to benefit the greater community, both at Queen’s and beyond. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Be responsible for finding and approaching potential sponsors. 
  • Work closely with the Director of Communications for them to generate content for our outreach events 
  • Maintain the team’s public image, including the sharing of regular status reports, team images, and significant achievements. 

The Director of Business can expect to gain skills in the areas of:

  • Project Management
  • Outreach in corporate sector
  • Negotiation

Time commitment ranges from 5-10 hours a week
