The Queens VEX U Robotics Team (QVEX) is an award-winning competitive robotics team under the Engineering Society and Alma Mater Society. With over 80 inter-disciplinary members from engineering, commerce, and science, QVEX is the largest and most successful collegiate robotics team in Canada. The team was founded in 2019 to revolutionize engagement in robotics at Queen's, while also developing a globally recognized competitive program.

Job Description

The Director of Electrical reports to the Technical co-Captain and is responsible for all electrical subsystems. They lead and push the vision for the Electrical side of the robots.

The Director of Electrical will build a team of project leads, which aid in designing electrical subsystems.  They are responsible for the workflow and development of electrical projects, including designing custom PCBs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of electrical subsystems, which includes the designing and testing of custom electronics on our robots
  • Maintain records and logs of robot electrical subsystem development
  • Development in our current electronics projects
  • Manage project leads and timelines
  • Provide boards for programmers to test code
  • Incorporate general members into projects and reassign project leads

The Director of Electrical can expect to gain skills in the areas of:

  • Project Management
  • Electrical Design & Integration
  • Resource Management

Time Commitment ranges from 3-20 hours a week
