The Queens VEX U Robotics Team (QVEX) is an award-winning competitive robotics team under the Engineering Society and Alma Mater Society. With over 80 inter-disciplinary members from engineering, commerce, and science, QVEX is the largest and most successful collegiate robotics team in Canada. The team was founded in 2019 to revolutionize engagement in robotics at Queen's, while also developing a globally recognized competitive program.

Job Description

The Director of Research reports to the Administration Co-Captain and is responsible for the team’s research division. They will be deciding on which projects the team wants to research, with input from the other directors, and are in charge of pursuing the team's vision on the research front. They will also be responsible for the teams' participation in the VEX AI division.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Finding and proposing new areas for the team to research
  • Managing existing research portfolios
  • Reporting progress to the team
  • Documenting the research process
  • Collaboration with professors

The Director of Research can expect to gain skills in the areas of:

  • Project Management
  • Research

Time commitment ranges from 3-10 hours a week
