AFL is seeking a Recruiter who brings strong communication, relationship-building, and listening skills, along with organization, adaptability, confidence, and a keen eye for assessing talent.
Reporting to the Talent Acquisition Manager, the Recruiter is responsible for managing the full-cycle recruitment process to support hiring needs across multiple business units nationally. This role plays a key part in attracting, sourcing, and securing top talent while ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
The Recruiter will work closely with Hiring Managers and Human Resources Business Partners to understand workforce needs, provide market insights, and deliver effective recruitment strategies that align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process across a variety of roles and levels, from intake to offer stage.
- Partner with Hiring Managers to understand role requirements, team needs, and desired candidate profiles.
- Proactively source candidates through various channels, including job boards, social media, networking, and direct outreach (headhunting).
- Screen resumes, conduct phone interviews, and coordinate virtual and in-person interviews in collaboration with Hiring Managers.
- Evaluate candidates based on experience, technical capabilities, and cultural fit; conduct reference checks and present qualified shortlists.
- Build strong relationships with Hiring Managers, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the hiring process.
- Serve as the main point of contact for candidates, ensuring clear communication and a positive experience from initial contact through onboarding.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date candidate records using the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other HRIS tools.
- Provide regular updates on recruitment activity, including trackers, hiring reports, and internal job postings.
- Support offers preparation and onboarding by coordinating with HR Operations, including Compensation and Payroll teams.
- Participate in job fairs, networking events, and employer branding initiatives to promote AFL as an employer of choice.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending and implementing recruitment strategies that support long-term organizational growth.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in a full-cycle recruitment role within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience recruiting for construction, engineering, or project management roles is considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
- Strong phone presence with the ability to build rapport and manage a high volume of candidate interactions.
- Excellent assessment and evaluation skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Willingness and ability to travel to site-based projects as required.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid work environment (2 days in office).
- Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime as required.
- Work location: Surrey, BC or Calgary, AB.
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites and events.
