Research Engineer / Developer
We are looking for engineers, developers, and analysts to join our Research group. The ideal candidate has experience in upstream oil and gas or data science, with a strong preference for those with strength in both categories. Our team is working on productizing a number of challenging oil and gas data/software projects, including geospatial and geological models, production and supply forecasting, enhanced oil recovery schemes, midstream analysis, and many more.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Make a Difference: Contribute to kick ass development in our rapidly expanding data offerings.
- Apply Domain Knowledge: Use your upstream or midstream oil and gas experience, coupled with data engineering principles, to create informative new data features and improve processes.
- Feature Engineering and Data Ownership: Maintain data quality, reliability, and most importantly, utility.
- Communicate: Help us connect domain experts, software developers, and our clients via code to create data products that are tailored for end users.
- Adapt: Thrive in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment.
- Collaborate: Follow technical direction from development leaders.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Located in Calgary, AB.
- 1+ year of professional reservoir, development, facility, or data experience in an engineering (or similar) capacity.
- Programming experience: Python, MATLAB, or R. Github is a plus.
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working with Engineering, Data, Product, Design, and Business functions.
- Experience working with SQL based query language: MySQL, Oracle, or PostgresSQL
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Effective communication skills with business unit stakeholders of varying technical ability.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with Python including Pandas, NumPy, and Document Databases (preferably MongoDB).
- Experience in Data Engineering with design pattern thinking.
- The perfect candidate has expertise at the intersection of oil and gas engineering, technical analysis, and data engineering.
