Job Description Summary

The Research Manager reports to the Senior Research Manager of Canada. This position will provide oversight for key projects throughout Calgary and support key initiatives that require a high level of research expertise and support. The Calgary Research Manager will manage all research activities in their market and team members. This position participates in pitches and presentations with local fee-earners, as well as the overall thought leadership and analysis for the market. This role coordinates research activity across service lines and property types.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Create quarterly market reports to include written analysis, statistics and market activity
  • Manage quarterly report process and/or the production of other deliverables released by Research
  • Assist in project management to include coordinating with all parties involved in the production of a deliverable (marketing, graphics, etc.)
  • Author research papers to analyze the effects of business activities or public policies on commercial real estate
  • Present market overviews to clients as needed
  • Oversight of all data collection for local market
  • Works with local leadership to support local growth initiatives
  • Responsible for forecasting data and trends for office and industrial markets
  • Provides management functions for the local Research Team
  • Supports overarching hiring, training, supervision and mentoring of local team
  • Manages and oversees customized data projects and ensures local market conforms with Americas’ guidelines
  • Develop key strategic data improvement projects for new initiatives
  • Due to increased years of experience, performs higher level strategies with Canada Sr. Research Manager

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or master’s degree in research, economics, real estate or another related field preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in commercial real estate industry or research-related field
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience managing remotely or across several locations.
  • Expertise in Excel a plus
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau a plus
  • Adaptability/change/fast pace: ability to plan, organize, prioritize and manage processes in a fast-changing environment
  • Resourcefulness/initiative: ability to successfully resolve problems with minimal direction
  • Work ethic/grit: proactively analyze data; tenacity to go above and beyond
  • Professional acumen, deep understanding of commercial real estate
  • Verbal communication/ articulate/ polished: strong oral and written communication skills
