Job Description

As a Robotic Process Engineer at Machina Labs, you will bridge the gap between customer needs and our cutting-edge robotic manufacturing technology. This role combines technical expertise with customer engagement, ensuring successful project scoping, feasibility analysis, and execution of prototype development. You will play a pivotal role in transforming initial customer concepts into manufacturable solutions, providing proof-of-concept prototypes, and driving the de-risking of projects through iterative experimentation and planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Technical Sales team members to engage customers during the early stages of project discussions to scope and define technical requirements.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments offline, evaluating customer designs for manufacturability, identifying risks, and proposing plans to mitigate unknowns.
  • Collaborate with customers to refine project scopes, propose solutions, and outline development plans.
  • Perform initial forming trials to produce prototype parts, optimizing parameters to overcome challenges and uncertainties.
  • Hand off validated processes to the Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams for execution.
  • Document and communicate results to both internal teams and external customers.
  • Provide feedback to the software and hardware development teams to enhance system capabilities.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace, or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience (or fewer with MS/PhD).
  • Experience in prototype development, process parameter selection, and feasibility analysis for manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software, CAM software, and CNC programming.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with interdisciplinary teams, including software engineers, mechanical engineers, and product managers.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, with an ability to translate technical challenges into actionable solutions.
  • Superb technical writing and communication skills.
  • Strong mentality toward safety and occupational hazard prevention.
  • Ability to manage projects with minimal oversight, creating end-to-end solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a production, integration & test, or design role.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting.
  • Expertise in surface modeling using CAD.
  • Experience scaling internal and external manufacturing processes to meet production demand.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, safety, and compliance activities.
  • Prior experience authoring technical documents such as SOPs, validation protocols, and technical reports.
