As a Robotics and Controls Support Engineer, you will troubleshoot and optimize robotic systems, ensure production uptime, and contribute to the development of robotic manufacturing processes.

As a Robotics and Controls Support Engineer, you’ll play a hands-on role supporting the installation, troubleshooting, and optimization of our advanced robotic and automation systems used in off-site construction. You’ll work closely with our controls engineers, field technicians, and production teams to ensure smooth operation of robotic cells, PLC systems, and motion controls equipment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex automation problems, working cross-functionally between robotics, electrical, and mechanical systems, and helping bridge the gap between engineering and production teams.
What You'll Do:
- Ensure continuous production uptime by promptly diagnosing and resolving equipment issues to minimize downtime and sustain 12 hours operation shifts
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair robotic hardware, sensors, drivers and software
- Contribute to design, development, evaluation and improvement of robotic manufacturing systems and processes by working closely with a diverse technical team of software developers and robotic engineers
- Analyze equipment failures to identify root causes and implement corrective actions that improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Develop, refine, and execute equipment validation protocols, including calibration, unit testing, and incremental improvements verification procedures
- Troubleshoot PLCs and robotic systems, including TwinCat and Kuka platforms, supporting automation for walls and floors building processes
- Uphold and promote a culture of safety, compliance, and professionalism
- Establish and maintain regular communication with production team and robot cell operators
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor/College degree in Robotics, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science
- Strong knowledge and experience in industrial robot programming, PLC/HMI, control panel, automation and electrical standards and best practices
- Experience working with sensors such as laser profilers, vision systems, and force sensors
- Willingness to participate in a variety of technical areas in both software and hardware as needed to solve complex problems and achieve business impact
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication and organization skills
- (Preferred) 3+ years' experience with automation systems programming and control, including industrial robots
- (Preferred) Programming experience in Python, C, C++ or similar language
- (Preferred) Experience working with Robot Operating System (ROS)
- (Preferred) Programming experience in offline robot path planning tools
- (Preferred) Experience in integrating KUKA robots
- (Preferred) Experience with electrical system design implementation in compliance with electrical standards
- (Preferred) Familiarity with residential construction
