We are actively seeking a Scheduler to join our Rail & Risk Management team in our Calgary office. Reporting to the Manager, Rail & Risk Management, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting trading, hedging, and logistics activities through accurate reporting, market analysis, and operational coordination. This individual will work closely with business development, commercial, operations, and finance teams to drive informed decision-making and ensure efficient execution of physical crude transactions.

Essential Functions:

Truck Scheduling & Execution

Build and maintain daily truck schedules, adjusting for production, tank levels, and constraints.

Coordination with Trucking & Production Operations

Collaborate with internal rail operations and trucking partners to coordinate daily haul volumes and respond to real-time changes such as transportation requirements, weekly production forecasting and netback optimization.

Inventory Monitoring & Management

Monitor and manage inventory levels using internal systems, ensuring efficient and balanced operations.

Performance Analysis & Optimization

Analyze scheduling performance including trucking wait times, hauling efficiency, and operational bottlenecks.

Scheduling Systems & Tools

Maintain and update scheduling software and support ongoing improvements and automation initiatives.

Rail Coordination Support

Coordinate trucking to align with rail loading requirements, assist with rail scheduling on an ad hoc basis

Reporting & Data Analysis

Support reporting and analysis, including weekly dashboards and production vs. hauled tracking. Maintaining pricing and monthly mark-to-market tasks.

Accounting & Reconciliation Support

Assist with marketing accounting processes including trucking ticket corrections, accruals, and volume reconciliation.

On-Call Truck Scheduling

Alternating weekly on-call requirement (including evenings and weekends) with support from truck scheduling team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in: Business, Finance, Marketing or a related field is preferred.

  • Exposure commodity markets, logistics, scheduling, operations, or energy markets is considered an asset

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, sorting, and reconciliation of large datasets.

  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, Bloomberg Terminal, or similar tools is considered an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and operational environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and stakeholders.

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
