The Senior Analyst conducts pricing, landed cost, and trade investment analysis to support decision-making in the food distribution industry, working closely with various internal teams.
CDC Foods is a national importer and redistributor supporting manufacturers entering and growing within the Canadian market. The Senior Analyst, Pricing & Trade Investment supports the end-to-end pricing lifecycle and trade investment analysis for brands distributed by CDC Foods across Canada.
Key Accountabilities
Pricing & Cost Analysis
Build, maintain, and update national pricing models across Foodservice and Retail channels.
Incorporate full landed cost components including freight, duties, currency, customs, storage, and distribution into pricing analysis.
Analyze pricing impacts resulting from supplier cost changes, foreign exchange movement, freight variability, and regulatory updates.
Support pricing consistency across CDC’s warehouse network in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia.
Support onboarding of new manufacturers through Canadian market pricing analysis and financial modeling.
Trade Investment & Promotional Analysis
Support trade investment planning through detailed financial analysis across Foodservice and Retail channels.
Analyze promotional allowances, rebates, listing fees, and growth investments in partnership with Client Managers.
Track brand-level trade spend versus budget and identify risks, variances, and opportunities.
Support evaluation of trade investments related to product launches and market entry initiatives.
ROI & Commercial Performance
Prepare pre-approval ROI analysis for promotions, pricing deviations, and customer investment requests.
Conduct post-event analysis to assess volume lift, margin impact, and overall program effectiveness.
Develop recurring reports and dashboards to track pricing and trade investment performance by brand, customer, channel, and region.
Provide clear insights and recommendations to Sales and Brand teams to improve future pricing and promotional outcomes.
Brand, Supplier & Client Support
Support Client Managers with financial analysis for supplier business reviews and planning discussions.
Prepare pricing, margin, and trade investment materials for internal and external reviews.
Provide analytical insight into Canadian market pricing dynamics, distribution structures, and competitive positioning. cha
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to analyze cost-to-serve impacts by channel and region.
Work closely with Finance on margin reporting, accrual analysis, and trade investment tracking.
Support Sales teams with data-driven pricing analysis and promotional recommendations.
Systems, Data & Controls
Maintain pricing and trade investment data within financial and reporting systems.
Support the development and maintenance of dashboards tracking margin performance, pricing accuracy, and promotional ROI.
Adhere to established pricing and trade investment governance and approval processes.
Support accurate accruals, reconciliation, and financial controls related to trade programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Supply Chain
3–6 years of experience in Pricing, Commercial Finance, Revenue Management, or Trade Spend Analysis within CPG, Food Distribution, Import/Wholesale, or Manufacturing
Strong understanding of landed cost structures, margin analysis, and trade investment ROI
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; ERP and BI/reporting experience considered an asset
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple analyses and deadlines
Collaborative, practical, and solution-oriented approach to working cross-functionally
