Summary:

We are currently seeking a Senior Art Director with 8+ years of experience to join our Creative team in Vancouver, Toronto or Calgary.

What we are looking for:

Managing a team of Brand Designers, we are seeking an Art Director to lead the visual execution of Clio’s brand and strategic initiatives including the Clio Cloud Conference and Legal Trends Report. These responsibilities include creating and communicating visual concepts across multiple mediums, implementing marketing strategies, and developing great design solutions that resonate with our target audience and generate results. The Art Director will manage the look and feel of campaigns, partnering with marketing managers, growth marketers, and content teams. They will take the lead on multiple projects and deliver the final product with the highest creative standards. They will also serve as a mentor and manage less-experienced team members.

Your visual design sensibilities should be top-notch, and you have the ability to translate a brand into distinctive looks that tell the story of Clio that resonates with our audiences.
From inception through launch, you will be a creative leader, responsible for delivering ambitious concepts, and using data to iterate and improve, translating needs and constraints into simple, intuitive, customer-focused solutions. You will define and be equally strong at concept and execution, comfortable with leading ideation sessions, presenting and articulating end-to-end experiences, and leading a team to turn that vision into high-quality advertising campaigns.
As part of this team, you will work under the guidance of a Creative Director and collaborate closely with other creatives.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage a team of Brand Designers through the visual execution of the Clio brand and key initiatives including the Clio Cloud Conference and the Legal Trends Report. 

  • Use and leverage metrics to drive design and measure success.

  • Lead other members of the creative team to develop excellent creative campaign ideas.

  • Actively participate in team meetings to discuss assignment parameters and execute strong campaigns.

  • Generate a range of ideas and designs across the organization and accomplish this through personal efforts and by effectively managing broad project parameters, less experienced team members, and outside freelancers.

  • Lead and participate in strategic brainstorming, concept development, creative brief development, and creative execution.

  • Regularly present creative campaigns internally.

  • Lead and participate in the production process to ensure the integrity of the final product (print, video or digital production).

  • Build and lead relationships with the team, partner agencies, photographers, freelancers, and other vendors.

  • Contribute to the innovative development of the creative department.

  • Create compelling presentations and provide rationales for creative work to a broad and varied group of colleagues, including leadership.

  • Build relationships with colleagues in marketing, media, and product design and help rally teams around a creative vision.

  • Bring a fresh perspective to creative challenges and inspire other creative team members through your example.

  • Identify opportunities for experimentation and advancement of our team's approach to creative challenges in the broader industry.

What you have:

  • 8+ years of experience with a strong and diverse portfolio of advertising campaigns, with 2+ years of management experience.

  • Background in an agency environment or in-house marketing department preferred.

  • Experience leading visual identity creation and refreshes. 

  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment and balance multiple priorities.

  • Expert in coming up with outstanding 360-degree advertising campaign ideas, seeing them through from the concepting stage all the way through to post-production (TV, radio, digital, print, OOH, social, experiential, etc.)

  • Expert with Figma, InDesign, Keynote, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • Experience in executing photoshoots, TV productions and other large projects alongside vendors.

  • Excellent communication skills in order to present concepts and rationale for art direction decisions.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate creative approaches and develop unexpected, original and innovative ideas.

  • Proven examples of complex digital campaign work from the smallest tactic to the most complex

  • Has lead projects and managed stakeholder expectations

  • Has experience presenting ideas and bringing your point of view into a discussion

  • Great communication skills

The full salary range* for this role is $102,900 to $128,700 to $154,500 CAD.Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.

*We aim to hire all candidates between the minimum and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on individual experience and skillset of the candidate. Please note there are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.
