The Senior Backend Java Engineer at BeatStars will design and implement features, maintain existing software, build tools, and improve platform performance. You'll work in an agile environment, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure product quality and delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing
The Senior Backend Java Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing new features in an agile software development process for our users and internal stakeholders to grow BeatStars' core business. This includes gathering requirements and building and testing features before release.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement new features in an agile software development process for our users and internal stakeholders to grow BeatStars' core business.
- Maintain existing features within our software platform with a commitment to maintainability, observability, and evolvability.
- Build internal tooling, fix bugs, tighten security, and improve our platform's performance.
- Write tests and ensure code is reliable, maintainable, understandable, and robust as we continue to grow our users.
- Partner with stakeholders & QA to ensure product requirements are met and we’re always delivering value to customers.
- Troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
- Strong skills in Java 8+, SpringBoot, Docker, SpringCloud, and other Spring components.
- Experience with DynamoDB and MySQL.
- Experience with MicroServices within AWS as we work with serverless technologies and asynchronous workflow. (Lambda, Fargate, SQS, SNS and other AWS offered Services).
- Build and release process using Git, Jira, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Love working on distributed systems creating scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure.
Bonus competencies:
- Experience with ETL, data lakes, and or data analysis (preferably with Amazon Redshift).
- Experience with GraphQL
- Experience with Redis and ElasticSearch.
- Experience with GoLang.
