The Audit, Compliance & Controls (ACC) team is seeking a Senior Compliance Analyst with a strong foundation in IT governance, risk, and controls. Reporting to the Manager, Audit, Compliance & Controls, this role partners closely with IT, internal audit, and operational teams to support regulatory compliance, manage key IT risks, and maintain effective control frameworks, including Alberta Reliability Standards. As a senior analyst, you will lead and manage complex, cross functional initiatives, provide guidance to team members, and act as a liaison during audits by representing the organization, supporting evidence walkthroughs, and facilitating a positive audit experience. The successful candidate brings strong critical thinking, technical expertise, and clear written and verbal communication skills to translate complex concepts for a wide range of stakeholders, functional initiatives, provide guidance.

Key Aspects include:
Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of IT governance and compliance documentation, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Provide coaching and mentorship to team members on the design, documentation, and effectiveness of IT controls and governance processes.
Partner with operational teams to ensure governance requirements and controls are well understood, embedded in day-to-day-to-day activities, and effectively mitigate risks of contraventions or process deviations.
Monitor, interpret, and assess control evidence to evaluate operating effectiveness, analyze incidents and potential contraventions, identify root causes, and recommend corrective and risk mitigation actions.
Prepare and maintain compliance documentation for regulatory submissions and internal governance processes.
Act as liaison for IT audits, coordinating with auditors and IT subject matter experts, collecting and presenting evidence, and representing control owners during audit discussions.
Contribute to the development of Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) and support AESO’s oversight of market participant compliance with ARS.
A combination of these experiences and qualities will support your success in this role:
- Diploma or degree in an Information Technology–related field, with 10+ years of experience in IT operations, project delivery, or related roles.
Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, ISO 2700x, COBIT, and ITIL.
Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret and assess evidence and control effectiveness.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage both business stakeholders and technical specialists.
Demonstrated experience supporting IT internal and external audits, including CIP and CSOX, with additional experience in SOC compliance is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance practices, with a relevant certification (e.g., CRISC) is considered an asset.
Experience using the ServiceNow platform, including IT Service Management and GRC modules, is beneficial.
