We are presently seeking a Senior Contracts Management Specialist for a 1 year contract at our Calgary, Alberta location.  This position is responsible to draft, administer and control contracts and related documents, (eg. contracts, Technical Assistance Agreements and proposals), while reporting to management on all contractual aspects of the program.  This individual will be required to identify and mitigate risk issues, including the development of risk mitigation strategies, for management consideration.  There may also be a requirement to negotiate low risk and high/low dollar contracts with the government or commercial entities and generate billings for the operation.

Responsibilities

  • Required to participate in proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Examine and understand Contract Pricing Rates, Cost Structure estimates of material, equipment services, production cost, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist the Director, Contracts and other functional areas in the preparation of bids and proposals, processes and specifications, and progress and other reports.
  • Advise management of contractual rights and obligations and the means to mitigate contractual/program risks, compile and analyze data, and maintain historical information.
  • Co-ordinate and support reporting activities required to demonstrate compliance with corporate and divisional contract policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Ensure all guidelines relative to company policies and customer requirements, applicable national and international government regulations such as transport, import/export, ITAR, environmental, health and safety are identified and adhered to.
  • Provide guidance and advisement to management in the development of contract negotiations and customer interface strategies.
  • Keep abreast of departmental and company objectives.
  • Responsible for signing authority for contracts and proposals up to the designated signing authority, if so authorized.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience within a Contracts role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business law or equivalent experience.
  • Ability and desire to learn new concepts as well as adapting to new and challenging situations.
  • General knowledge of business law and legal ramifications with respect to contracts and proposals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills for dealing with internal and external customers
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy
  • Excellent organizational abilities
  • Knowledge of the Defence industry is preferred
  • Must be computer literate with the use of various software programs such as Word and EXCEL

The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.

This position is eligible for consideration of a hybrid work arrangement with set days onsite in Calgary.
