How you’ll make an impact 

Leverage your expertise in commercial and corporate lending to review and approve complex loan proposals that support FCC’s mandate while mitigating risk. As a Senior Corporate and Commercial Credit Manager, you’ll analyze lending opportunities, provide guidance on complex financial structures and ensure decisions are compliant with FCC’s policies and risk appetite. Your expert financial analysis skills and in-depth industry knowledge will enable you to provide sound credit recommendations and support your colleagues in the application of stringent credit principles. If you’re a strong communicator and problem-solver with solid decision-making skills and a desire to make a real difference in Canada’s agriculture and food industry, this role is for you!

What you’ll do 

  • Adjudicate, authorize or recommend commercial loans in the agribusiness and food sector, based on your level of authority

  • Review and analyze credit proposals, source documents, administration requests and policy exceptions

  • Assess risk and consistently apply corporate and credit risk policies

  • Collaborate with the legal services team on credit agreements and inter-lender agreements

  • Coach and mentor lending staff and credit managers on financial concepts and risk mitigation measures

  • Conduct research on the industry, develop benchmark profiles and contribute to corporate initiatives and credit learning content

What you’ll bring to the team 

Required qualifications: 

  • A diploma in business, economics or agricultural economics

  • At least eight years of experience in lending and/or commercial or corporate credit (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Expertise in corporate and commercial lending practices, theories and trends

  • Advanced credit analysis skills, including financial statements, cash flow and working capital

  

 Preferred qualifications:  

  • In-depth knowledge of the agriculture, agribusiness and food industry is an asset

  • Experience in credit mentoring or coaching is an asset
