About this opportunity:

The Senior Data Engineer is essential in developing and maintaining the infrastructure that supports large-scale data processing and analysis on data platforms. They are responsible for building and optimizing data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling advanced analytics capabilities.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and construct high-performance reusable data architectures for ETL and data processing workflows utilizing CI/CD on modern data platforms

  • Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable data models and pipelines on these modern data platforms

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, ensuring the efficient flow of data from various sources and utilizing Databricks for complex data processing

  • Implement ETL processes for data transformation and loading, ensuring data quality and integrity, and leveraging Databricks capabilities for data warehousing

  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to provide data in a ready-to-use form for analysis and insights, using Datasphere to facilitate data sharing

  • Optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms to support efficient querying and reporting, particularly in Databricks environments

  • Maintain data governance and compliance by implementing data validation and quality checks within the data models on these platforms

  • Monitor data systems performance and resolve any issues or bottlenecks, ensuring high availability and reliability of data services

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field

  • 8+ years' experience in data engineering, database design, and ETL processes or relevant

  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, Java, or Scala

  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and data lakes

  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka

  • Understanding of cloud services and architectures

  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms such as MS Azure, Databricks
