Job Description
What you’ll doOwn the full R&D lifecycle: from data discovery and feature engineering to model selection, validation, and deployment in production environments.
Collaborate deeply with stakeholders to define and solve high-impact business problems, acting as an intellectual partner rather than just an executor.
Apply a rigorous scientific mindset to test hypotheses, validate model performance, and ensure robust, scalable solutions.
Bridge research and production by deploying models that are integrated into Guidewire’s fintech/insurtech ecosystem.
Contribute to the launch of new AI-powered product categories and support the expansion of Guidewire’s solutions into global markets.
Help drive operational excellence by ensuring models meet security, reliability, and compliance standards.
Mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams to build AI and industry fluency across the organization.

Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
7-8+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist in the private sector, with a proven track record of owning the full R&D stack.
Expertise in Python/R, SQL, and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit-learn).
Experience with cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure) and MLOps practices.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical partners.
Accountability, resilience, and a growth mindset—comfortable iterating and pivoting when faced with challenges.
Familiarity with the insurance or finance industry.
Preferred
Direct experience in Insurtech or Fintech.
Geospatial or computer science background.
Advanced degree in a quantitative field (degree preferred or equivalent experience).
