We are actively seeking an experienced Senior Development Engineer to join our Lloydminster Conventional team.  Reporting to the Manager of Reservoir Engineering – Lloydminster Conventional, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the evaluation and execution of growth opportunities within Lloydminster Conventional area including developing the Manville Multilateral Horizontal play and EOR growth opportunities.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Lead evaluation of all growth opportunities within the Lloydminster Conventional Division  

  • Prepare and evaluate analog type curves and economic evaluation for growth plays; create long term optimized development strategy for all new growth plays

  • Utilize geological and reservoir parameters to establish dataset for risked based analysis

  • Lead team in execution of appraisal well design, drilling, completion and tie in

  • Monitor and review industry trends and offsetting competition activity; and recommend technical best practices based on analysis

  • Optimize completion and drilling strategies to enhance and optimize economics

  • Optimize land base by way of land sales, swaps and farm ins

  • Support evaluation of acquisitions and divestitures with the collaboration of the Business Development team to optimize the value of Division

  • Prepare and deliver presentations to executive management regarding all growth and development opportunities

  • Steward to internal capital and production budget and monthly forecast

  • Lead technical evaluation of annual reserve process for area assets

Qualifications Include:

  • 10+ years’ experience working conventional heavy oil properties

  • Proficient in the use of ValNav, GeoScout, EVA, Verdazo, Microsoft Office Suite, Tableau/Spotfire

  •  Demonstrated ability to lead and integrate across multi-disciplinary teams

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation abilities

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in reservoir engineering, economic analysis and production optimization

  • Ability to manage time and produce results while working under pressure and deadlines

  • Broad understanding of oil & gas development

  • Strong business acumen

  • Previous experience in horizontal multilateral development and waterflood/EOR management is considered an asset

Education and Experience:

  • B.Sc. in Engineering

  • APEGA member in good standing

  • 10 - 15 years of relevant experience in conventional and/or EOR heavy oil assets

Work Environment:

  • Based at our head office in downtown Calgary.
