About Anyon Systems

Anyon Systems builds the world’s most advanced superconducting quantum computers from the ground up. Our team spans quantum engineering, hardware design, cryogenics, embedded systems, and high-performance software. We deliver full-stack quantum computing platforms deployed at leading institutions and national laboratories around the world.

As we scale our systems and software stack, we are expanding our DevOps capabilities to support secure, automated, and reliable development and production environments.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who will design, implement, and maintain the DevOps and infrastructure backbone that supports our internal engineering teams and the production environments powering our quantum computing platforms. You will own our CI/CD ecosystem, container orchestration environments, and infrastructure automation, enabling our software teams to move quickly while ensuring system stability and security.

This role includes responsibility for on-prem and cloud infrastructure, secure deployment environments for quantum hardware control systems, and the design of secure CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain DevOps infrastructure supporting internal development and production systems.
  • Manage on-premises Kubernetes clusters, including provisioning, upgrades, networking, monitoring, and hardening.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize secure CI/CD pipelines, ensuring code integrity, reproducibility, and controlled deployments.
  • Work with software teams to automate build, test, and deployment workflows across a multi-language environment.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (strong emphasis), plus Helm/Ansible for reproducible deployments.
  • Manage and secure production infrastructure running quantum hardware control systems and software services.
  • Maintain secure environments for quantum hardware operations, with proper access control and network segmentation.
  • Design and implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems for both development and production environments.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce DevSecOps best practices, including secrets management and vulnerability scanning.
  • Support hybrid deployments; familiarity with Azure is a strong asset.
  • Produce and maintain clear documentation for infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, and operational workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across distributed systems and production environments.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering experience.
  • Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized application architectures.
  • Hands-on experience running on-prem Kubernetes clusters.
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform and IaC principles.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining secure CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong Linux systems administration background.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts: DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing, service meshes.
  • Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cloud environments—Azure strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience with GitLab CI/CD and managing GitLab-based environments.
  • Experience with GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Flux).
  • Background in secure cluster deployments and compliance-driven environments.
  • Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Experience supporting systems that interface with hardware, embedded devices, or real-time control systems.
  • Exposure to microservices architectures and advanced Kubernetes networking.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You…

  • Enjoy designing elegant infrastructure that developers love to use.
  • Care deeply about security, reproducibility, automation, and documentation.
  • Thrive in a multidisciplinary engineering environment spanning software, hardware, and quantum systems.
  • Take pride in well-structured Terraform, robust GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and reliable Kubernetes operations.
