Are you looking for an exciting new challenge to join Suncor as a Digital Product Owner? In this role, you will act as the business subject matter expert for a specific business system, system capability, process or outcome. As the Product Owner, you will be responsible for defining a product’s capabilities and features based on product’s overall vision and customer experience. The vision will be aligned to the Sales & Marketing business capability roadmap. You will be responsible for communicating with stakeholders across the board, including customers, business managers, and the development team to make sure the goals are clear and the vision is aligned with business objectives.
This role covers Digital Product Ownership for the Point of Sale product area, which is a key part of business operations at over 1450 Petro-Canada locations across Canada. This product area includes other site systems and processes that support overall on-site operations and customer experiences such as the Pay @ Pump experience.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of computer science or equivalent degree in software design University degree in business or related discipline
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Previous experience in development and deployment of IT Technologies
- Previous experience in digital product management, agile execution, and user centric design
- Ability to communicate complex concepts with multiple stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to prioritize and align future plans with Sales and Marketing long-term strategic objectives
- Strong business acumen to translate how technology enables business value and related costs, benefits and risks
- Advanced facilitating and negotiation skills with an ability to lead integrated teams to value-add decisions

- Prior experience with Fuel Retailing systems and/or Point of Sale technology is an asset
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire digital product lifecycle for your assigned product
- Prioritize the backlog of work for the Product Team based on the needs of the business
- Influence the future state for a specific system or application
- Understand and anticipate trends for the product, competitive activities and opportunities in the marketplace
- Liaise with end users and other stakeholders to ensure the product roadmap meets expectations
- Anticipate customer needs and provide value-added stakeholder solutions for the product area
- Communicate with the end users of the product and other stakeholders including but not limited to newsletters/other bulletins, webcasts, et
- Ensure all SOPs (Site Operating Procedures) are accurate and up to date
- Balance operational break fix requirements with enhancements and innovation opportunities daily
- Write product requirement documents
- Product owners are responsible for communicating with stakeholders, including customers, business managers, and the development team to make sure the goals are clear, and the vision is aligned with business objectives, and change impact is documented and understood
- Collaboration with other Product or Project teams to ensure cross-system dependencies are met
- Collaborate with Product Manager on budget planning to drive highest value for organization
Location and other key details:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- This is an in office role, hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
