AECOM Calgary is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Professional to join our growing Western Canada remediation and reclamation team in Calgary, AB. You will work with our experienced team of remediation professionals on various projects with mining, waste management, oil and gas, industrial, municipal, provincial, and federal clients. Our ideal candidate has the people skills to grow and mentor staff and the technical experience to support clients as a “trusted-advisor”. This is a full-time role.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Demonstrating safety leadership throughout project planning and execution.
  • Providing senior technical leadership to environmental site assessment, remediation, and reclamation projects through scope development, guiding execution and reviewing technical reports including but not limited to complex site assessments, annual monitoring reports, conceptual site assessments, remedial options assessments, remedial action plans, confirmation of remediation reporting and regulatory closures with AEP and AER.
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate staff both in the field and office including occasional, short-duration site visits to provide hands-on direction and coaching.
  • Working directly with clients to understand their challenges and collaborating with the AECOM project teams to develop solutions that meet client needs and regulatory obligations.
  • Collaboration with regulators either with clients or independently on the client’s behalf.
  • Developing and reviewing strategic proposals and budgets for new work opportunities.
  • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery and technical problems

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., civil, chemical, environmental) or sciences (e.g., environmental science, geology).
  • 8 years consulting experience leading environmental site assessment and remediation projects.
  • Ability to provide professional sign-off on remediation reports according to the Alberta Joint Practice Standard (i.e., AIA, ASPB, ACPA, APEGA, CAPF, CAPFT, ASET).
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered professional with the ability to sign-off on remediation reports according to the Alberta Joint Practice Standard (i.e., AIA, ASPB, ACPA, APEGA, CAPF, CAPFT, ASET).
  • Ideally 15+ years of consulting and/or industry experience.
  • Ability to apply environmental quality guidelines to data collected from various media and land uses, including Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 modifications.
  • Experience reviewing and providing professional sign-off on complex site assessments, annual monitoring reports, conceptual site models, remedial options assessments, remedial action plans and confirmation of remediation reports.
  • Proven experience working with regulators to achieve site closure.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Experience in contract management and administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • High level of personal drive, and ability to lead projects with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships with clients and internal, multi-disciplinary teams.
