THE ROLE
As Senior Flutter Developer, you will collaborate with our engineers, product managers, and designers to help users share and discover valuable knowledge about their hobbies, interests, and pastimes. In this role, you will enhance our user experience by creating well-architected, robust, scalable, and user-friendly software tailored to the mobile platform. You get to build a new native app from scratch to replace our legacy app built in webview wrapper. This position is critical in our strategic roadmap to entice our mobile web users to download and use our mobile app. We are striving to build the next-generation online community experience for our mobile forum users.
With more than 50 million monthly active users across our forum communities, scaling 100x from where our mobile app is today while building a best-in-class mobile application is a distinct challenge. This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-focused public company with a startup mentality.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop our Flutter-based Fora Communities mobile application on iOS and Android
- Work with cross-functional teams to build a world-class user experience
- Write readable, maintainable, testable codeCollaborate with backend team members on mobile app API requirements
- Dogfood our products and provide feedback
- Iterate through rapid experimentation and A/B tests
- Other related responsibilities and ad hoc projects as negotiated and needed to meet the ongoing needs of the company
ABOUT YOU
- 5+ years of experience in software development
- 3+ years of experience in mobile application development
- 2+ years of experience in Dart + Flutter
- Experience in launching highly scalable mobile applications on iOS and Android
- Experience in APIs, BLoC architecture, JSON, push notifications, and deep linking
- Ability to travel to Toronto and Mountain View, California twice a year
YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU ALSO HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
- Experience with online communities, especially forums
- Experience with Firebase (Crashlytics, Dynamic Links, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, etc.)
- Experience with experimentation tools and A/B testing
- Experience with GraphQL
