About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Business Services, the Senior Manager provides strategic leadership for IT–business partnership, prioritization, and delivery across Corporate functions. The role focuses on elevating business engagement, guiding portfolio planning, and aligning technology direction with enterprise priorities.

As the primary strategic relationship leader for Corporate IT, the Senior Manager builds trusted partnerships with executives and stakeholders, ensuring technology investments, performance, and outcomes directly support Cenovus’ business objectives. This is a highly visible role that plays a critical part in shaping how Corporate functions leverage technology to drive meaningful business results

What you’ll do:

  • Lead IT business engagement for Corporate functions to ensure alignment with enterprise priorities.

  • Set and govern performance metrics and drive continuous improvement across service delivery.

  • Manage Corporate IT investment planning and ensure transparent decision‑making with executives.

  • Lead option analysis and economic evaluations, shaping business cases that guide multi‑year technology investments.

  • Partner with the Strategy & Performance team to shape IT strategy and ensure domain-level architecture aligns with enterprise architecture guidelines throughout its lifecycle.

  • Drive prioritization for Corporate IT initiatives, ensuring decisions align with enterprise strategy and capacity.

  • Administer the IT Business Unit Operating Budget, including budgeting, forecasting, licensing, maintenance renewals, workforce planning, and software asset management.

  • Provide strategic oversight of application portfolios to ensure performance, lifecycle alignment, and value realization.

  • Experience navigating complex, multi‑stakeholder environments and shaping technology roadmaps across competing priorities

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • 16+ years related experience, with a minimum of 10 years progressive IT leadership experience, including leading leaders and influencing enterprise-level outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and guide technology strategy.

  • Deep expertise in IT business partnership and/or enterprise portfolio planning, with a proven ability to translate business strategy into technology direction.

  • Proven track record of leading leaders and building high-performing, collaborative teams.

  • Ability to drive alignment and coordination across diverse IT functions.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and executive-level communication capabilities.

  • A degree in Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Data Science is considered an asset.
