Putting people first, every day

BDO is a firm built on a foundation of positive relationships with our people and our clients. Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters a people-first culture with a high priority on your personal and professional growth.

Your Opportunity

The Manager, Operational Insight & Value plays a pivotal role in strengthening the firm’s internal transparency and value realization across strategic initiatives. You will provide objective, data-led insight into the outcomes of innovation and change efforts — ensuring that the firm's investments align with its strategic ambition. By applying disciplined evaluation methods and custom performance metrics, you will help translate internal efforts into measurable, high-impact results.

We're looking for you to own the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply structured, non-standard metrics that assess project efficiency, launch velocity, meeting load, and overall contribution to business goals.

  • Establish reporting mechanisms that illuminate progress and value delivered — offering clarity without overcomplication.

  • Serve as an independent voice in reviewing internal initiatives, ensuring that insights are based on data, not self-reported success.

  • Design creative, business-relevant models for evaluating financial and operational returns across varied internal programs.

  • Prepare concise, data-driven evaluations that support strategic decision-making and enterprise prioritization. Deliver evaluations to the Board and Executive

  • Act as a thought partner to project leads, enabling proactive course correction and early identification of value realization challenges.

  • Collaborate with Finance and Strategy teams to ensure insights from project evaluations inform future investment prioritization and budgeting cycles.

  • Lead the design and implementation of a firm-wide methodology to assess and track ROI on strategic and operational initiatives, balancing financial, operational, and cultural impact.

How do we define success for your role?

  • You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect and Collaboration.

  • You understand your client’s industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high-quality work.

  • You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients.

  • You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains & attracts talent.

  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace.

  • You grow your expertise through learning and professional development.

Your experience and education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, HR, Finance OR equivalent relevant experience.

  • MBA or CPA strongly preferred

  • Professional services experience (tax, accounting, or consulting firm background preferred)

  • Highly analytical, with strong financial fluency and comfort building models from scratch

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to connect operational insight to broader strategic goals.

  • Confident presenting to senior leaders and boards

  • Able to challenge constructively and communicate findings with clarity and professionalism

  • Track record of independent thinking, ownership, and delivering insights that influence decisions

What you need to know about the Calgary Tech Scene

Employees can spend up to one-third of their life at work, so choosing the right company is crucial, not just for the job itself but for the company culture as well. While startups often offer dynamic culture and growth opportunities, large corporations provide benefits like career development and networking, especially appealing to recent graduates. Fortunately, Calgary stands out as a hub for both, recognized as one of Startup Genome's Top 100 Emerging Ecosystems, while also playing host to a number of multinational enterprises. In Calgary, job seekers can find a wide range of opportunities.
